the throne of the lost has been vacated
and in its place sits a sword of stone
the story of royalty should it be lifted
                  is now a warning for pretenders;

                                    ye who take the burden
                                    who seeks redemption in darkness
                                    don't carry forward
lest your own heart grow stony
and lost upon your brow, will the crown sit

          the lost are now found,
                    relinquished for purpose
and the time has come to rise above the shadows
the spirit of man never dying

pray heed the mourning calls of time
and look towards the horizon instead
there is no warrior who will sink their teeth into black
when there is the light to feast upon
We are the warriors that built this town.

Congratulations from CRLiterature on your Daily Deviation!  We are holding a chat event in CRLiterature on Saturday, July 7 from 11am-1pm Pacific Time to discuss June's batch of Literature DDs and we hope you will join us.  Please let me know whether you will be able to attend so that we can plan accordingly; because there is not time to discuss all of the month's Literature DDs, we prioritize those whose authors are able to be present for the discussion.  We encourage you to help spread the word among your watchers as well!

This is a great poem!  You take cliches and answer them with new words towards originality.

The thing I envy about poets is their ability to catch so many things in relatively a few words.

Writers have the "luxury" of letting a scene carrying on and see where it ends. Do you (poets) have a similair kind of thing? Just let the words carry you away and see where it goes? How much time did it take you to make this?

I do have a similar thing. Sometimes when I write poetry, I just let it flow until it ends naturally. It feels more
complete when it happens that way, for me. To write this maybe took ... 20 minutes or so? I was listening to music, so that
often fuels the writing. I just put down the feelings and thoughts I get in that moment, and leave it at that. I try not to come back to anything
I do in poetry because I write in the moment of the feeling: if I try to come back to it, I either have to be in the same feeling or I have something
worthwhile to add to it. I think I've only done that once ever, in all my writing.

I wonder: was this inspired by the Arthurian legends? It reminded me of it. What kind of music were you listening to?

You are a real drifter on inspiration than. Very nice.Thats the complete opposite of me. The experience I have with writing poetry is indeed "by instinct/flash of inspiration", but I also love to play with words and find a flow.

Yet again, when I make an attempt at writing poetry its often story related.

I was leaning a little bit towards Game of Thrones for imagery, actually. I've not watched the show or read the books (properly), but from what I've seen/heard, I have this sort of picture of
Winterfell in my head that I kinda use sometimes for stuff like this. I was listening to Warriors by Imagine Dragons when I wrote this (usually have whatever song is inspiring me to write on repeat)

Linked it here for you to listen: www.youtube.com/watch?v=o3W5ng…

I wouldn't fret too much on a poem telling a story. If it's not speaking, what would you have it do? As far as I'm concerned, everything has a tale in it, so if your words have a story related to it,
all the more reason to read deep into it.

the tone here is succinct. the prelude to dismay. i revel in the colors blue and gray i imagine you paint here. ancient stone in dustless void
you summon the souls of the ruined and shake them until they admit their faults
