Bismaru's Fudgy Failure by Seppukumaru Bismaru's Fudgy Failure by Seppukumaru
Starring Bismaru and Jurokubei from Ganbare Goemon. :eyes:

I've laughed so hard over that title... it ended up sounding so... GROSS...

Anywho, if you don't know who Jurokubei is, he's from Ganbare Goemon 3, and you can get to know the guy & his Omikuji by watching the subtitled videos for this game: [link]
This somehow turned into even more of a time munching behemoth than my usual. You can watch my sanity slip as the art progressively gets better (look at the first drawing of Bis, it's so oogaleh!) I tried to work faster, but it backfired and I worked even slower!

Jurokubei's a pain in the arse to draw non-chibi...

The background of the title frame has nothing to do with anything no matter HOW long you stare at it. :evileye: I took the rest of the photos at a hotel in Cocoa Beach, Florida. Hey, I needed some kind of random background, but otherwise it has nothing to do with anything.

It was originally going to be twice as long, with the second half being where Bismaru gets abused by Dochuki, under the title, "Why Bismaru's Life Sucks!" But as soon as I figured out how long this was gonna take, that went out the window.

Poor Jurokubei, you can't blame him for wanting a brownie, right?????? :D

It's not be a good idea to ask for ANYTHING from Bismaru, EVER. :fear:

Hmm, bizarro. :aww: You use those live-action background photos very well. :giggle:

Question 1: Is "Bismaru" some sort of fandom, hipster way of saying "Ebisumaru?" Or is this a completely different person?
Question 2: Is there some horrid double-meaning to "brownies" in this comic? :fear:

Um... thanks? :XD:

Answer 1: Bismaru isn't Ebisumaru... he's from the same Japanese game as Jurokubei, but he also shows up in an English one, the second N64 game. Ebisumaru has another almost-clone, too- Obisumaru. He's a gay transvestite male, labelled as female in the Euro instruction book for said N64 game, I guess to make parents looking at the instruction book feel less weird about having their kids play a game with this character? :giggle:
Answer 2: I didn't intend a double-meaning, but considering Bismaru really wants Jurokubei, there's a layer here that now seems, uh... erm...

Well, let's just leave it there... :D

Well...I'll be. The only thing more bizarro than that information is your Ken Jennings-like knowledge of the Goemon world in the first place. =P

Ken Jennings! :XD:

Indeed, I've dumped quite a bit of information of actual importance to make room for it.

JUROKUBEI <3
It seems that I am being blessed with art of the more obscure characters that I love today!
Funny, nicely colored, and Jurokubei- what's not to love?

Thank you!

You're not the only one, I had the same feeling seeing Suzaku. ^^
Poor Jurokubei, it's a shame to see him get neglected. ^^;

Holy crap, this was hilarious. I love the second to last panel especially. You did really well drawing these two.

And just out of curiosity, what's on the TV in panel 4?

Thank you so much! The second to last panel was also the most fun to draw. ^^

On the TV, it's a Popeye's commercial for The Shrimp Tackle Box!

I only saw that one when we were on Spring Break in Florida, so I almost missed it myself. We watch cable while on vacation since we don't usually have it.

Somehow, I figured that (based on what you wrote in the artist's comments). And it makes sense that you would spend your vacations doing that, seeing as how you can't back home.

Yeah, just with dinner, replacing our usual dinner DVD watching. And we always watch VH1 in the morning at hotels, for some strange reason....
