I also liked the concept of Altima the Blood Angel as a final boss, even if the fight was a bit anti-climactic if you leveled up a lot before you got there. I liked her first form better, they should have left it at that I think
In general, I think the Delita/Ovelia Relationship, is something of an deconstruction of a realationship with a "Bad Boy"(if unortodox one), and showing realistically(and tragically) how it could end.
Still, it's just my opinion, and the relationship is indeed very interesting.
The Occuria/Gods even betrayed imprissoned, and essentially lobotomized Zodiac/Zodiark(the Lucavi merged with Elidibus/Elidibs), despite the fact Zodiac/Zodiark was crucial with defeating Altima/Ultima and the Lucavi. The Gods/Occuria done so, because they feared Zodac/Zodiark's great power(indeed, in his summon animation from FFXII, Zodiark is shown to be powerfull enouh to destroy the universe), but that still no excuse how handiling so horribly their most loyal servant and child, as Zodiark was basically Archangel Michael, to Ultima/Altima's Satan.
This all makes Ivalice all the more grim, as the Gods/Occuria, seem ultimatelly as bad, or even worse than Ultima/Altima and the Lucavi...
But as you see, there is a paralell between the Lucavi and Delita, both being mistreated, but later themselves becoming cruell manipulators...
Although on the other hand, Zodiac/Zodiark, also has similirities to Ramza, both being the vanquishers of Ultima/Altima, and both being framed as the villain despite their heroism.
Although with Zodiark, there is the grim possibility he went insane from his unjust punishment and imprissonment. On the other hand, he seems to be at least less evil than other Lucavi, and not working with them, as well, as giving Elidibus/Elidibs much more independence(Elidibus/Elidibs keeps his human name even in Lucavi form), with Elidibus/Elidibs and Zodiac/Zodiark seemingly co-piloting their shared body.
With both games(Final Fantasy XII and Final Fantasy Tactics), being in the same universe, and being originally written/directed by the same guy(Yasumi Matsuno), I doubt the similarities are accidental...
To be clear, I think Delita is quite understandable, and easy to sympathize were with his life, but he became quite ruthless when you think about.
Especially that there are argubly in Ivalice's history more noble anti-villains/anti-heroes. Delita's goals for example were ultimatelly largelly selfish, while Vayne, Cid and Venat from Final Fantasy XII, worked for the improvement of the world, and releasing it from enslavement to the Gods/Occuria. The heroes even partially adopt their goals.
Not to mention, Vayne, Cid and Venat were very loyal towards each other, with Venat consoling Vanye after his failure, and sacrificing her/it's immortality, to give Vayne a chance at survival.
Also, about Delita's armor, it's implied he survived the stab, as official historical records state Delita ruled many decades.
Also, it's terribly amusing that it looks like he's bleeding flowers from the exit wound.
I remember playing this game for hours :')
