After A long and arduous mission, Chiaki’s team was ready to depart the village. One of Chiaki’s teammates yelled to her in the distance “Hey! Chi! Lets go! It’s a long way home and we’re ready to get out of here, what’s the hold up?”. “You guys go on and leave, there’s… something I gotta take care of first.” “Fine, just don’t take too long or you’ll never catch up to us!” “Pfft” She scoffed at the notion that either of them would get that far without her to hold their hands. Quickly Chiaki’s attention turned back to the reason she had decided to stay longer, Kankuro a boy she had met some time ago at her Chunin exam. The two instantly disliked each other from the start. Chiaki dislike disliked his rather brash, snarky attitude & he equally disliked her cold demeanor towards strangers. After some time though the two managed to earn the others respect, some would even say they had grown to like each other. For Chiaki this was much closer to the truth than she cared to admit. They parted ways before Chiaki had the chance to really tell him how much she had admired him, something that has always bothered her to quite a degree, but now she had her chance. She was in his village after all & where he lives is certainly no secret. So, the young girl mustered as much courage as she could manage and headed off to see what could come of her decision. To her surprise(and dismay) however she managed to walk into him on the way over to see him. “Damn!” She shouted in her head” “Now I don't have any time to think of what to say! Just my luck!” “Chiaki.” He Said “Funny! I heard you were in town and were leaving soon, I knew I just had to go and see!” She blushed “H-He was wanting to see me?” “ Wanted to see how in the hell a girl like you managed to become a jonin!” he said with a wide smirk exaggerated by his purple face paint.. Chiaki stood there, annoyed yet happy that he's still the same Kankuro she remembers. “Oh yeah? Thats real rich coming from a guy who plays with dolls all day!” she remarked in a playful tone. “Ha!” Kankuro laughed “Glad to see you haven't changed one bit! Well except maybe that you're a bit taller and prettier than I remember.” “Prettier! What kind of backhanded…” She stopped before finishing her sentence. “Wait did he just call me pretty?” She thought. “Calm down, calm down I was only joking! But really… I do mean that, I genuinely wanted to come see you and well… now i'm very glad I did. “Wait, what the hell? Is he actually coming on to me? And here i was expecting this to go all wrong.” She thought. They both moved in closer to each other “Look I um, have to go very shortly but before i do.”There’s something i want to say to you.” They both said in unison. The two stood there shocked, “wow that was… unexpected” Kankuro awkwardly chortled, “ehheheh… yeah” Chiaki said whilst trying very hard not to pass out from a sudden rise in her blood pressure. “Alright then, since your the one that has to deprive yourself of my presence I'll let you go first.” “Um that's… fine!” Oh damn! How am i going to put this while i'm on the spot like this? This is definitely going to be the thing that kills me!” She Screamed in her mind. She shuddered whilst Kankuro waited very anxiously “Well? You gonna spit it out? I mean unlike a puppet you can actually speak on your own ya’ know.” “I’m… I’m getting to it you jerk!” she spat out. “Fine! Damn it this isn't nearly how i thought this was going to go, but here it is!” she almost threw up while she was saying. “When i first met you I thought you were an egotistical, stuck up brat! But… after we got to know each other better and I saw what you were really like I… began to admire you and… (Shit here goes nothing.) and like you. (welp it's out there now!) and i wanted to tell you before you left but I-I was just too much of a coward… I was terrified that you could never feel the same way about me as i did about you & then it was too late, it's something I've regretted ever since but now… I'm honestly glad I just got this second chance to tell you how i really fee, no matter if you feel the same or not. I… Love you Kankuro, I love everything about you and I believe that i always will. So there, I said it!” as horrifically nervous as she was she didn't think she could ever feel more relief. Kankuro stood there, taken aback but not completely shocked like she thought he would be. His entire demeanor changed, where once stood a snarky, know it all, elite ninja now stood a loving, caring and completely charmed young man. Kankuro stood in silence for a moment formulating his thoughts. “Well… What… What are you thinking Kankuro?” Chiaki shyly said. “I guess I should be glad, you saved me the trouble of having to do this myself. Though I do have to say that i'm a little upset that i can only really say one thing i had planned to say to you now…” Chiaki gulped “And… what...what would that be?” “I love you too.” Kankuro said with more more confidence than he had ever had before. The awkward air cleared completely, the two former friends knew without a shadow of a doubt that this was meant to be. “How about a little gift before you leave to show you i mean it?” Kankuro grabbed and kissed Chiaki, they embraced for what seemed to be an eternity & yet an instant at the same time. “I’ll always be here waiting for you, you know?” Kankuro said while holding Chiaki in his arms. “Careful, i might hold you to that.” Chiaki said softly. As much as it pained him to do so, Kankuro let her out of his arms, he knew she had to go. “Hey, until next time, huh?” Chiaki smiled “Until next time, my love.” She walked off towards the village exit smiling all the while as Kankuro watched on, saddened yet happy as he knew It wouldn't be long before they were reunited once again.
