Revisiting the same theme as my original "Yurei". This one is made in a "digital woodcut" or block print style, if such a thing is possible.
Really, I treat the layer masks almost like the blocks, sketching out and then carving away areas that I don't need.
It's unique to some degree to digital but I find that the decision making process what to remove, include, etc. as well as the compositioning are identical issues to resolve regardless of the material.
What an interesting idea...woodcuts/block prints are not something I would've expected to translate into the digital realm, but I think they've worked wonderfully for you. (It seems so intuitive now--taking away is, after all, easier with layers....)
