Getting back to 3d and I thought I'd challenge myself to create an anime classroom. Modeling was done in Blender, rendered with Blender Internal and post-processed in SAI and Photoshop. Did quite a lot of experimentation and post-processing to get the lighting to look good. Here's the original (disgusting xP) Blender render for reference:
sta.sh/0u7m9cmpyxu. There's quite a few tangents in the image but overall I'm pretty happy with it :)

It's very nice... can I use it for my visual novel? I'll give credits to you. Thanks a lot. :)

I've tried to paint a classroom before and was really struggling with the lighting, but you make it look so effortless!

Thank you! Painting this by hand would be a nightmare Dx. That's why I used 3d to leverage the drawing part so I can focus on lighting and detailing. Anyway, the way I did the lighting is I isolated it from the rest and played around different filters to achieve the lighting I was aiming for :)

Looks really nice! The only thing I'd point out is the specular highlights are off in some places -- the highlights on the inside of the desk tray probably shouldn't be there., for example. The paint-over really adds in some nice detail, like on the metal on the hanging lights. Raw renders often look nasty without tweaking a bit even when its a well-made scene. Anyway, good work!

Hey thanks man! Good catch on the highlights. I had a point lamp set up in the middle of the room to act as the main light source and that's probably why there are specular highlights in weird places. I should be more careful setting up those lamps heh. Glad the paint-over improved the image. It was the most fun part for me, because I could 'beautify' the image without manually setting the right material settings/textures for every object in the scene.
