Second chance

I've recently lost a friend. Actually not a friend, he's still alive, but his friendship. We weren't so close but I considered him as a good friend. He was nice and very kind and he meant a lot to me.
I don't know when it started. Now when I turn back, there were a lot of signs but I haven't payed attention. Few weeks ago I've noticed some strange, unusual things but I tried to find some reasonable explanations. We are friends, there must be some good reason for what he did or didn't do. But few days ago I finally found the last sign, I found out that what I was afraid of, is true. I apologized to him even I still don't know what have I done wrong that could ruined our friendship. I simply didn't get a second chance. I think everybody should get, at least, a second chance. We are not perfect, we are humans and errare humanum est.
