My entry for the the contest Coaching Competition held by :iconcrphotomanipulation:

Our Team's theme was Greek Mythological and I decided on Lamia.

A short description about Lamia:

In ancient Greek mythology, Lamia was a beautiful queen of Libya who became a child-eating daemon. Aristophanes claimed her name derived from the Greek word for gullet, referring to her habit of devouring children. Some accounts say she has a serpent's tail below the waist.  Lamia was cursed with the inability to close her eyes so that she would always obsess over the image of her dead children. Myths variously describe Lamia's monstrous (occasionally serpentine) appearance as a result of either Hera's wrath, the pain of grief, the madness that drove her to murder, or—in some rare versions—a natural result of being Hecate's daughter

An absolutely stunning and morbid photomanipulation, "Lamia: The Murderer" indeed deserves not only its daily deviation status but also a closer look: a closer look into the maddening eyes of the mythological woman of which the deviation is named after; a closer look at the eerie, unexpected, and skillful use of magenta, a color normally associated with lighter-hearted subjects; and a closer look at all the macabre details that not only surround Lamia herself but are also associated with her. Personally, I have never really heard of her before seeing this deviation, so in that respect this demonstrates that, indeed, you learn something new daily. Also, at first glance, the snake body/tail reminded me of another mythic monster: Medusa, also from Ancient Greece. It is that that point that one must consider Medusa's story with that of Lamia, and see if one can really compare with the other. And afterwards, one may find that, indeed, nothing really compares to the tragic story of Lamia -- nothing that is, except for this very deviation. And, one final note: Viewers of this photomanipulation have to take a look at the extensive list of stock images used, because it is only after doing so can they really begin to appreciate the sheer amount of energy and skill required to bring them all together into one morbidly magnificent manipulation.
