Nancy began to go through her final stretches. She tensed all of her muscles, kicked behind herself like a horse and dropped into a sprinter’s crouch. She felt the warm breeze wash over her chiseled features as she looked down the row of her competition. All somehow familiar faces - focused and slightly elevated. She turned her head in slow-motion while her burning eyes searched through stadium, past the deafening of the crowd towards the finish line. That was her goal.
She calmed her mind and took a final deep breath before the plunge.
The gun went off and echoed in her ears. Her sleek muscular legs exploded like the release of tension on a metal spring. She could feel her speed increase abruptly and fast, the sheer force of energy that mashed into the ground from her tight calves to her upper legs to her torso, all the way to her chest and neck.
