The afternoon light slanted in through the windows of the art classroom, bathing the wooden tables and worn floor in warm tones. The low stools forced bodies to lean forward, bringing those who shared an easel closer than usual.
Daniel and Marcos, in their final year, worked side by side in front of the same still life. The navy sweater outlined the line of their shoulders, and the plaid skirt opened into neat pleats whenever they shifted on the stool. Every movement was slight, almost choreographed by concentration.
Daniel sketched shadows with charcoal. Marcos mixed colors on the palette, carefully observing how the light brushed against the ceramic pitcher of the model.
