[DEVIATION]
Halloween was getting closer, and Benjamin Holloway had always enjoyed the stranger side of the season.
Not the frightening parts, necessarily.
The sweets were what really interested him.
That afternoon, Benjamin wandered into a small Halloween shop and looked over the enormous collection of seasonal treats.
“Wow,” he said. “They've really gone all-out this year.”
There were chocolate ghosts, gummy eyeballs, pumpkin-shaped lollipops, black-and-orange jelly beans and all sorts of peculiar-looking candies.
Then Benjamin spotted something he hadn't seen before.
Sitting in a little black bowl was a single oddly shaped caramel.
It looked like a tiny stitched-together cat.
Its body was orange, its eyes were green, one paw was blue, another was pink, and a tiny green tail curled around its side.
The wrapper simply read:
FRANKEN-CAT CARAMEL
Benjamin picked it up.
“A Frankenstein cat?” he chuckled. “That's certainly unusual.”
He turned it over.
