Crumb 2326: The Power of FreeBSD Virtual Memory
Being a digital hoarder, I execute JavaScript processes in my internet browser that, for whatever reason, make the used memory grow to incredible limits. For instance, I just used my new tool to add songs in bulk to my YouTube Music collection (crumb 2320) to add 292,107 songs. This would have never worked on Windows or Linux: the browser (Chrome or Firefox) would have crashed due to an out-of-memory error. I know because this used to happen to me running comparable tasks when I was using those inferior OSs. On FreeBSD, almost 4 GB of swap memory are marked as used, the process completed successfully, and the system is responsive.
