Hello, everyone! As a member of the DeviantArt community for several years, I have some thoughts about being a creator on here, including some friendly advice and tips on a few random subjects. I certainly don't pretend to know everything about this place.....but I’d like to share a few things I've learned from experience with those of you who may be newer to DeviantArt. Anyway, here are some of my musings - in no particular order: 1. Irelands Catholic Horror: Where The Children Arent Or Ireland’s Children: The Church That Buried Its Own [DEVIATION] They didn’t lose the children. They disposed of them. Between the 1920s and the late 1990s, Ireland ran a network of Catholic-run Mother and Baby Homes, industrial schools, and Magdalene Laundries that functioned as warehouses for “fallen women” and their “illegitimate” children. The state funded them. The Church ran them. And when the children started dying in large numbers, the institutions buried the evidence — sometimes literally. The most documented example is the Bon Secours Mother and Baby Home in Tuam, County Galway. Between 1925 and 1961, 796 children died there. Local historian Catherine Corless spent years cross-referencing death certificates with burial records and found that only two of those children had proper graves.
