Hummingbird commission — one of the last sculptures I'll be doing for a little while!

Width: 35cm
Height: 25 cm
Depth: 10 cm

CD shards (over 40 CDs used)
Wire mesh frame
Hot glue
Gold paint
1 week work time

I use kitchen scissors to cut the shapes I need out of the CDs, then arrange each shard by colour and size. I then hot glue those shards one-by-one to a wire mesh frame to create a natural feather pattern. They usually take a week to make, maybe longer depending on how motivated I am to get them done!

Serious skills !! I love your choice of materials as well, both for the creativity and sustainability factor ... reminds me of Sayaka Ganz work.

Oh, that's CD shards. I was wondering whether that was plastic or glass. Different approach, and magnificently crafted together. Great job, amigo. Whenever you can/will do more sculptures, I hope someone can get you to do a tiger's head. Or, even head, arm/leg and paw with claws out. If I get the money, certainly I would pay you for that. Serious tiger fascination, is what I have. But, enough on that, and sorry for doing such. Hope that what you're tied up with has some art connection that you can shards/post on here.

Excellent work. My hat is off to you for how smooth and clean your edges are.

Having done a couple of pieces with CDs myself, I just have to ask... how in the WORLD do you get such clean cuts with scissors? I've tried using tin snips and EMT shears (penny cutters) only to have the CDs fracture with no discernible pattern. I finally had to resort to using a coping saw and files to get the shapes I needed.
