Hummingbird commission.

Width: 35cm
Height: 25 cm
Depth: 10 cm

CD shards (over 40 CDs used)
Wire mesh frame
Hot glue
Gold paint
1 week work time

I use kitchen scissors to cut the shapes I need out of the CDs, then arrange each shard by colour and size. I then hot glue those shards one-by-one to a wire mesh frame to create a natural feather pattern. They usually take a week to make, maybe longer depending on how motivated I am to get them done!

Amazing work!

I love the idea of using CD shards to make sculpture, the vibrant colors it produces suites the peice well. I wonder how it is you come up with so many CD's to produce your pieces though? Sounds like it could be expensive just to buy blanks. Worth it regardless!

Glad you like it! I glue CDs back-to-back to get the colour on both sides.
