Your 'Wave installer' program screwed up my system and I'm not sure how to fix it. Well, I pressed cancel at one point which it asked me to download something else, I think. I can't remember exactly. I'm just having a bad night.

By "screwed up" -- I mean things are seriously fucked and it keeps freezing.

What exactly freezes? Screenshots? Details about what works and what doesn't?

It seems to be working now. Primary issues: Windows Explorer was performing very slowly (folders took a long time to open and so on) and when I tried to change the background it'd freeze and crash entirely. Since other themes were associated with various (different) backgrounds, it was also impossible to change the theme.

Explanation:
I tried to go around to delete the associated files after I realized the Wave theme wasn't working after your Setup's crash (All I knew about were the theme files, startup-folder file). The theme folders weren't able to be removed (currently in use by another program), though I had already changed my theme to one which I knew worked fine.. except it didn't now! Then I tried to change the theme's background, and when I clicked on the "Desktop background" button, Windows Explorer froze and crashed entirely. I restarted my computer and was finally able to delete the Wave theme's associated folders, and everything began working well afterwards.

Hmm this theme also modifies your imageres.dll and shell32.dll which both can give problems if patched incorrectly.

Oh. Probably. My last set restore point was "Removed FTPbox." by the way. Is there any good way I can restore imageres.dll and shell32.dll properly (even though things seem to work fine now) without restoring the program 'FTPbox'? If not, I guess maybe I shall restore it and then re-uninstall; if system restore always backs up core system binaries. It may not work if system restore only deals with files which are changed. I don't know much about Windows' internals since I don't really care.

Boot into safe mode and open a command prompt as admin then enter "sfc /scannow" without quotes and press enter

Okay. Sorry I forgot to try that earlier because I was tired and busy finishing things before I went to sleep. I remember what that is! :D
Nice suggestion. I'll give it a go. I forget all these commandline Windows things -_-

Hmm The installer made a system restore point when it started, you can use system restore to restore back to that time.

Also you can try in a commandprompt: sfc /scannow
Viblicent's avatar
What is the restore point named? I don't think I see it.
Seahorsepip's avatar
It should be called something like: Installed Custopacktools

Are you sure system restore points are enabled?
