"Puppet Master"

CLASS: Joker

Despite its name and appearance, this particularly rare Joker has a poor sense of vision and specializes in the manipulation of sound. A master of ventriloquism and mimicry, it can also generate a cloak of illusion to disguise its bird-like "puppet limbs" in any form imaginable. It may develop up to a dozen of these appendages at any given time, but only one, armed with wicked claws, is its true lower body.

An Opticaper feeds primarily on blood slurped through its multiple beaks and digested within its massive eyeball, turning the orb a deep red after every meal. When cornered, it sprays blood and other excess fluids from its clawed anus or sheds its living "puppets" to serve as a distraction.

------STUFF------

:iconcrimsonsacrifice: said to make an eyeball clown for her and by the time I made a sketch that I liked, I really wanted to make it an official monster, too. This also made me go back and update all the other clown-like monsters with newer, cleaner art (this makes six of them) and give them their own distinct "joker" class, which I like to think is created by some sort of queen, like termites.

Of almost all the monsters I have ever drawn, this one took more attempts than any other before I drew one good enough to scan. I ruined several sheets of paper just sketching, erasing and re-sketching to fit its weird body on a single page. I am HORRIBLE at planning the composition of these, I pretty much just wing it every single time and always end up with poses a little more scrunched than I intended. I wound up sacrificing more chicken-arms that this guy was supposed to have, but I think it came out looking better with just a couple!

I tried to make it as Clownish as possible without using really obvious clown characteristics and keeping it mainly just an eyeball and tentacles.

I like the little sketch of this guy standing up straight in the corner. Chickens make amazing hands...for some unknown reason.

I love that Venus flytrap-looking eye. This Mortasheen is pretty cool, but didn't you recycle the rubber chicken from the T.V.C.-15 (or whatever you called it)?

Venus flytrap looking? 0o

If you mean the Psychodrome that does have a chicken head on it too :p

I meant like the Venus flytraps in the Mario games (which aren't so much like real Venus flytraps). And I meant the Psychodrome. For some reason I thought you named it "the T.V.C.-15."

Yeah I know, it's about a T.V. that sucks people in, which is why my brain grouped it and the Psychodrome together.

Whoa, Chicken Fetuses + Umbilical Cord Tentacles + Daisy + eyeball = Holy Cow Wicked! I shall make note of this. I don't know what this is in reference too because this is the first piece of your art I've looked at in detail, but that thing in the corner makes me think it's an evolved pokemon.. well you know, if the Pokemon franchise decided to collaborate with the people who make Fringe.

"mortasheen" is my own pokemon-like horror world. The thingy in the corner is just this same monster in an alternate pose :)

I'm just a big fan of eyeball creatures and was trying to figure out how to make one into a "clown" in a non-obvious way. I wound up combining it with rubber chickens...

Ah! Fo sho! It's hard get the connection with out the color. If the chickens were like that rubbery latex yellow color and the rest could be primaries like clown make up.. you know what you're doing.

I haven't taken a color class yet, it's on my to-do list

I like it's 'imp' form, I can see those moving about in a 'ministry of funny walks' kind of way and then suddenly unravelling to attack, awesome stuff.

Certainly and interesting clown monster, I think the little doodle of it assuming a more 'humanoid' form is really cute!

I can't stop staring at it.

I love how this one's got a ring of "petals" to simulate a clown's ruff.

I can easily imagine this one being colored in garish shades of purple, pink, fuschia and yellow.

very cool. i'm not too fond of most humanoid clowns, too creepy and gross for me usually. but i can get on board with the whole rubber chicken gag :)

i can just imagine this in a movie or cinematic in a game. you see it in a dark abandoned building or circus tent eating (drinking) away on someone and when it notices your presence it turns quickly showing its giant red eye staring at you unnervingly.
