Description

I had so much love for this piece whilst sketching it, and by the time I finished I already loathed it and saw so many areas where I would have done it differently - the bane of trying a warped perspective and no references :joy:

One Vision

Best Pal  (G2) @ Del Mar, CA, USA

Jockey: Andy Thornton

The cries of jubilation were deafening as Aden leapt up and punched the sky, his own leading the growing din as Cat pushed, edging from Sea Witch and Thunder Strikes to steal the win with a length.

Aden turned to Lloyd, a grin splitting his face and nudged him, drawing the attention of the grizzled trainer - was his eyes glassy?
"What did I tell ya?", the young man laughed. "I knew it. I knew she had it in her."

Lloyd just smiled, and he begrudgingly admit that the small filly had something in her, that could only be hammered home after watching her chase down the two leaders with a speed that prompted him to get his stopwatch out.

Can Cat N' Fiddle repeat her blistering maiden win? What are your plans now, Mr- Lord Pierce? Where will she be racing next?

It was a question that Aden had no hesitation (Lloyd hesitated somewhat) in answering the posed question. Del Mar. Cat will be at Del Mar and we plan on entering her into the Best Pal. A Grade 2 race? With only one G3 race under her saddle? Yes. They didn't know Cat well - how could they? - but she needed the challenge or she wouldn't race - would throw the race - without a shadow upon the horizon to catch.

Don't let her close too early, Andy, keep a tight reign on her head. She'll be mean and fight you all the way especially with the colts but you have to hold her like we planned and then just let her run. Oh, and don't fall off.

Easier said than done Aden, Andy grouched as she held Kitty back, the filly getting beyond agitated as her rider wouldn't allow her to chase down the leaders.
"Easy girl, soon", the young woman soothed, as they came up to the bend she pulled the small chromed brown mare out as they rounded the bend. Her deft fingers slackened her death grip on the reins and pushed her heels into her sides and brought her crop to bear. "HYYA!"
