[Personality]
Cat is impatient, demanding and persistent filly. Her small stature and aloof nature lull unsuspecting stablehands into a false sense of security that she exploits on the turn of a pin, this has labeled her as an unpredictable and sometimes dangerous horse to be around for the inexperienced personnel. She is a typical Lead Mare; she must choose to follow your directions.

Once you have been tried and tested by her antics and somehow passed, the filly shows her loveable and somewhat silly side.


[History]
Cat was born from Orgarth Hill Farm's own Free Bird, an unraced broodmare by Authaal and Riddle Pine Acres newest stallion, Deceptive Pass - the flashy full brother of Champion Older Horse, Cigar. With Cigar being proven infertile in the breeding shed Deceptive Pass was the alternative, his lackluster record due to his pre-race and even mid-race antics getting him scratched or disqualified would have ordinarily turned Orgarth Hill away but the racing potential was there in the pedigree, and they hedged their bets on Free Bird's mellow nature curbing Deceptive's swings-and-roundabout unpredictability in the resulting foal.

And it worked... somewhat. That's to say that Cat didn't turn out unpredictable because she sure did, but the destructive tendencies of her sire didn't raise their ugly head. The unpredictability of her sire became the versatility and changeability of the daughter, her demure stature lulled critics in and her explosive acceleration and turn of foot had them retracting their cynical first impressions.

  >NOTES: It was discovered that although this small filly had the speed and stamina of an ideal pace-setter or frontrunner with reserves to spare for the final approach she would lose all interest without having to chase a pack leader. It takes a firm hand to keep her restrained behind the frontrunners to keep her competitive and from throwing the race.

Other than that, Cat is versatile and changeable when called for, she shows a great turn of foot and tactical speed with explosive acceleration in the final quarter. Although her ideal position is of a mid-pack stalker she has placed after a memorable closer run after a lackluster break in the Frizette Stakes (G1).
