Good Friday by scripturemonkey Good Friday by scripturemonkey
My mom bought me a cross at the craft store for $1, and someone gave me the Jesus action figure awhile back, and they happened to be more or less proportional.
And Good Friday's tomorrow, so it seemed appropriate.

Where's the toy Roman soldier that stabs him with the spear to make sure he's dead?

Kane you are the best, I love the pic and the colors in it are really cool. Jesus action figures rock and should be used for art all the time ^_^ great idea for a pic! :+fav:

hahaha. actually, i think jesus was taken off the cross to have mad sex with mary magdalene so he couldn't have been wearing robes... yeah, that's right. i want to be a jesus freak.
except... not.

Oh, very cool...although I don't think that the great JC was crucified in traditionalist WASP robes. I'm no Roman historian, so I could be wrong...but just a small gut instinct here. I really like the thieves set back and blurred, the focus being on JC. Lovely.

Thanks for the praise.

They stripped him before crucifying him, so he should be wearing at best a loincoth. But I didn't design the toy, so I couldn't change what he was wearing.

Most biblical historians concur that the thieves flanking Jesus on Golgotha were *not* giant ram-headed bad guys from some 80s cartoon or another, but you have to allow me some artistic license.

No praise for you, man. Praise to God Almighty. 8) And thanks for the Bliblical scholarship update, but I was just being sarcastic about it in my comments. This is just a powerful piece while still being lighthearted. Awesome.
