This group was founded to celebrate the Trinity of Pen, Ink and Paper or PIP for short. These are not strict rules and are more like guidelines.

The culture of the group is freindly and open to all as long as there is some logical link with the Trinity.

We are not technically minded so it may appear disorganised however we love fantastic art and will work hard and be attentive.

Why Scrbes? When we set the group up it should have been Scribe however the typo was not noticed until the group was accepted. It does however hopefully signify that this group will be a bit different.

Group Question

Does the term 'penmanship' really exist?

If it does is it representative of both male and female work?

If not what would be the best replacement word?

Please let me know what you think in the comment box below, looking forward to seeing your veiws.

Scribe1969, are you still running this group?  it would have been great if you had a Co founder to keep the group going.

Happy New years, PIPers! :D (Big Grin)

in response to your "penmanship" comment above;

penmanship could exist.... you see language is a very fickle thing. it evolves and changes rapidly over time, with one generation barely being able to understand the next, much less their children's children. it would signify both male and female aspects of course, as does one-upmanship, swordsmanship and all other such little nuances....

language is easy like a Sunday morning, it can swing any way it wants and become something else entirely by next week.

look at the youth of today...

"that's bad! its mean! that's a punisher, that it" and all these turns of phrase signify GOOD THINGS?

"off out on the lash" turned from a being punishment (50 lashes being hellish)

into being a reward: "awww, three more days of work and I get to go out on the lash on Friday" being a common terminology these days.

no, good sir, (and by sir I could mean either male or female, modern parlance doesn't bash political correctness but instead snub it) you can feel free to make up all the salubrious words you want, and no one would be any the wiser. if it's a good word it will get taken aboard and become part of the common man's speech. otherwise it gets relegated...

like "that's rad, spiffing, preposterous, splendiferous, or wondrous...simply marvellous!" have all faded from memory....

thanks for the invite!
