This drawing features a portrait of Henry Cavill as Superman from the up coming movie "The Man Of Steel"
When I saw the latest cover of Empire magazine which features the reference photo that I am using; and being a big Superman fan ...well I couldnt resist.

drawn with Prismacolor color pencils; drawn on Strathmore steel grey 400 series paper

Superman and the "S" logo are copyrighted by DC Comics and Warner Brothers, The Refrence photo is copyrighted by Empire magazine
Superman was created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Schuster

I wish I could master color pencils like you do. Pastels are my thing. Kuddos for such amazing talent!

I use Prismacolor pencils sometimes and anted to ask, do you lay white down first to get your colors to pop? I love the vibrant look of your work!

I work the drawing in layers, first I complete the sketch in Black and white (with white prismacolor highlights) then I add each layer of colors usually going from dark to light...then once satisfied I hit the high areas again with the white and the darkest black with either india ink or black prismacolor

It looks amazing. I checked out some youtube tutorials on this technique. I am going about things completely backward! It looks great, almost like pastels!

Henry is a really handsome superman (and his face really difficult to draw, i think).
