It's hard to keep up with "creating a following" when there is barely enough spare time in a week to maybe sketch a few things or glue some stuff together.  But I'm still here.  While helping to get my girlfriend set up with a new Etsy account, I rediscovered the hundreds of images on my hard drives, and how much I enjoy making collages of little bits and pieces.  And my vast archive of photography of odd little corners of the southwest USA region.  I have no idea what to do with any of it, but I'm still here.

Those blogs I mentioned 10 to 14 years ago all ran their course, 50 or 150 messages each.  My current blogs are for gaming and my lifelong stamp business, plus "Odd Signs & Symbols" (photography and commentary).

Just now I got lost in looking at the other art on this site, and it is simply amazing.  I'm happy to have my one little corner of color.  I will try to be a bit better with updates, and more social overall.

Just a quick note about a new blog of mine:

WordFixx
wordfixx.blogspot.com/

The subject is: the history and hidden stories of words, and odd events in the history of our language.

It's finally here, my new book "Improbable Jane."

Jane is a 3-in-1 chapbook of sci-fi longpoems.

Includes "The Improbable Notebook of Jason V---" about an inventor afraid to share his breakthroughs with the world;

plus "Jane Doe Discovered", a cloak and dagger cybertale set in a political prison,

and "Coyote Village", a classic fable about stealing the Moon.

For full details and some samples (and to order a copy) here's the page:

Thanks!

I just won a James B. Baker Award for nonfiction for an article of mine ("Unusual Vampire Lore" in Hungur magazine).  This is one of the bigger small press awards out there, so it's fun for me.  The irony is that after getting no recognition of any kind for the 450+ stories and poems I've had published (okay - one Pushcart nomination) ... after only about 10 articles, there it is.  For more info, try this link:

(Just search for "Virtes".)

Also, I have agreed to edit two anthologies for Samsdot Publishing.  I am co-editor of "INFRADEAD: Tales of Human Extinction" and chief editor of "The Book of Tentacles."  Both are now OPEN to submissions.
