Blender's Subsurface Scattering plus ...

...a TopMod based approach to apply a Newtonian fractal style to a Moebius torus structure. What?
Just ask if you really care :-)

This is just too cool on so many levels.

Yep, that's exactly the construction algorithm except that I failed to do make the 100+ connections of the fourth iteration level .. :)

You care? Here you go!

I tried to fit a simplified Newtonian fractal alike 3D mesh structure into a slightly twisted torus.

Easy, right :)

Well, obviously no better ways to do digital 3d pottery, but there are better ways to spend the time I assume ...

Not in my books! The best way to spend time is doing stuff with your art or whatever creative outlet you love! Eating and sleeping are up there too! :D

I like the texture/material. Looks a bit like quartz, or marble (i.e.; the subsurface-scatter properties.)

My first reaction was visceral....
...No, that's not quite right -- It LOOKS like viscera :D

I get the feeling that it would be squishy & slippery, if handled -- you know -- icky !

Thank you,

I love the Blender SSS shaders - looks convincing, like marble or soapstone - or ugly ugly things!
'viscera' - yuck!
Yeah, remeshing using Meshlab always creates very organic meshes! Will explore that combination a bit further :-)

You would!
See a Newtonian fractal that just connects a point using a fixed number of arches to another source of arches that just is connected to other arch sources again ...and again ..and again ...
Well, better look at it before trying to understand - it's easy to see.
And the Moebius Torus Newtonian Fractal Structure just means to bring that concept to a twisted 3d loop. Easy - isn't it ;-)

Hmm, it's a brain feedback loop.

This was extracted from a politician's brain ... it refused to accept that there's a reality beyond reducing taxes for the rich ...

... Apologies for the plain attitude ...
