Well this is for :iconpurpelblur:'s new Imagination Expand Challenge. This is the Hard one so it contains two lines ([link]).

I want to do the easy one too but I'm finding that one harder to find the picture.

I really love that scale detail and how the legs don't seem so fat at where they first start, like mine do. I don't have many of my dragons and such up, I used to doodle them a lot. But, this is really inspiring. I hope I can do better work in the future.

Well sometimes its requested, other times its part of the initial idea though choosing the shades is just something I do by looking at my pencils and other times I sit for ages moaning that I don't know what colour it is. I do like bright colours though and I've done art and graphic communication at school so I know all the stuff about complimentary and contrasting colours so that helps. Also the shade of your colour is a big thing too like dark purple goes really well with a bright green but not a dark green.

sounds like a cool course :) i guess there's also a bit of trial and error in there?

Hmm, am quite good at it now but sometimes I still need to do colour tests on scrap paper or the back of the sheet to see what things will look like side to side. Genrally if you use contrasting colours use one light and one dark shade and if you use complimentary colours go for the same shade (pale blue and pale purple)
