State of Dreaming

The original picture, which held a sadness to it, with darkness as it's main component, and small flickering crystals around the main subject, has been turned hopeful with the use of lighting and some color changes and enhancements.

That transformation is my favorite thing about this picture.

What was looking like a single tear falling from the main subject's eye has now been erased, leaving a calm determination behind.

The bleak background, which was originally black, now holds color to it, specifically violet with great amounts of red and blue, sort of creating a sense of some sort of duality which is a part of the greater whole, like the Yin-Yang symbol.

While it may have been a simple technique or two to accomplish this, I have to admire it. It proves that simplicity does sometimes fit the bill. That great things do not have to or do not become accomplished via a lot of strenuous and complicated work. And this brings to mind the saying (author unknown to me), "work smarter, not harder."

My marks for Vision and Technique are middle ground, due to the fact the 1) I am not truly sure of the creator's vision for this picture - as said, the creator was trying out the new Photoshop program, 2) I do not know what the creator's technique was for working on this picture. It could be more complex than I initially know.

Originality go four and a half stars due to the fact that while I do not know the creator's thoughts or purposes for working on this already published picture, I do feel that there was some sort of thought that led to this creation. Be it conscious or subconscious, I definitely see a sense of purpose behind the manipulation.

Where I am definitely affected the most was the Impact. For that, definitely five stars, in my opinion. As said, this picture now seems to hold a sense that there is hope in it, where the original picture did not have that.
