Listening to music as my heart aches for an elusive something more, I find myself fighting back stupid tears. I WON’T be defeated by this depression. I can’t let it win. I will find my place. I will make a difference somehow. If I can find my true love too, that would be the absolute dream come true. In these days I seem so frail but I know I’m stronger than anyone else. I can and have been broken, but it just made me invincible, able to come back from the brink of death. I’m standing tall alone, but my hands keep reaching for the One. The Rooms She Never Enters

She carries her heart like a house with too many doors, each one breathing softly when she passes. Some rooms are filled with light that hurts her eyes, others are locked with names she no longer speaks aloud. Her thoughts move like water on glass— never still, never choosing a direction, always slipping away from her hands. She tells herself to be calm, but the words fall apart before they reach her chest, like instructions written in smoke. At night, she listens to her own silence, heavy, crowded, unfinished, and wonders which feeling is truly hers and which one has simply learned her shape.

The scene that played in front of Sera and Jaysan was one of immense disbelief and surmounting dread. Nagas, lamias and humans dashed to and fro, not even giving the pair a sideways glance. The Rooms She Never Enters

She carries her heart like a house with too many doors, each one breathing softly when she passes. Some rooms are filled with light that hurts her eyes, others are locked with names she no longer speaks aloud. Her thoughts move like water on glass— never still, never choosing a direction, always slipping away from her hands. She tells herself to be calm, but the words fall apart before they reach her chest, like instructions written in smoke. At night, she listens to her own silence, heavy, crowded, unfinished, and wonders which feeling is truly hers and which one has simply learned her shape.

My grandfather didn't talk about his time at the NSA. To us, he was just a retired linguist who spent his weekends tinkering with shortwave radios in a basement that smelled of stale tobacco. When he passed last winter, the task of clearing out his "shack" fell to me. Behind a false panel in his crawlspace, I found a heavy, lead-lined film canister. It wasn't labeled with a name, only a set of coordinates and a date: 17.05.1961. Inside were dozens of translucent microfiche sheets. I actually had to look up what a microfiche was. They weren't in English. They weren't even in standard Russian. They were written in a frantic, shorthand technical cyrillic used by the OKB-1, the Soviet Experimental Design Bureau. I’ve spent the last three months translating them. My hands are shaking as I type this. History says Yuri Gagarin was the first man in space, and he came home a hero.
