I Wanna Be a Bud by SavingSeconds I Wanna Be a Bud by SavingSeconds
I've been watchin' you
Dad, ain't that cool?
I'm your buckaroo
I wanna be like you
and eat all my food
and grow as tall as you are"

-Rodney Atkins "Watching you"

Inspired by the Budweiser Superbowl Commercial, this little foal is eager to grow up and be just like the team.

The vision and creativity of this piece stands out!
I guess for me it's hard to tell what is going on, but that is perfectly fine! That is something that makes it very interesting.

The foalie looks very adorable! He/she has a cute chibi anatomy and sizing. It's pose expresses the character of the foal. The big horses watching the foal also carry a cartoony expression! They're staring at the foal, probably in confusion. :XD: I think you did great drawing them at that angle, and they're anatomy style matches so well with that of the foal's! It's on a perfect scale.

I like the shading, where as there's flat shading and realistic/3D shading. The flat shading outlines the muscles that are contracted sensibly with what pose the horse is in. For example the foal has a bent line on the haunches, bent in the curved way showing that muscle tightened as the leg is lifted.
The save with the rest of the body. The big horses might be harder as they're wearing tack (which I will get to later) and they're not flat out along the page. The muscles on the chest are very accurate, and I also like how you not only drew muscles, but you draw the folds in the skin! That goes with each of the horses. The flat shading is also drawn well to match the angle we look at the horses! :D The coloring is well and I love the markings and how they're drawn. The mane has great detail and they're nicely braided. ;)

Now. Tack. As I always love to say, it is very detailed and gorgeous! They're drawn accurately and rests correctly where the harness should rest! (not in random places all over the horse!) The little gold bits add lots of detail, and I like how you drew them everywhere, and again, in the right places. They sit in places where real steel or metal pieces would sit. The bit is well shaped to look like a real bit, better than how I draw which is a random greyish circle! :XD:

Whoa. 300+ words. But who cares.

I like the background, where the leaves/trees in the back have a sharp edge and very flaky and uneven to resemble real plants. The grass looks simple yet detailed, however that works. I like the texture and different colors on the dirt path, and I like the shadow. The shadows are drawn in that realistic way, where some shadows are darker than others. The wiggly lines and blobs on the outside are lighter than the blobs right underneath the horse.

Good job! This drawing is very detailed and excellent! :thumbsup:

This is an adorable piece! I love your style, and the expressions and tack details are great! ^^
Here are a few things I'd like to see next time, hope they can help! (:

The anatomy of the grown horses is very good, they have excellent proportions. I can tell you're going for a cartoony style, but I think that the foal's head is a little bit too big for his body and the legs are a tiny bit too short, but I love the pose you chose for him!
I really enjoyed the rich, saturated colours here. I do think that the shading was a little flat, and it's hard to see where the light source is coming from. I suggest using a reference image to tell where shadows fall, and always establishing a fixed light source in your image, I know that always helps me!
One more suggestion I have is to try using a slightly thinner brush for lining your pictures. They allow for better detail and a very thick line can be distracting from more of the picture, because darker colours always "pop" out from the rest of the picture. It's not a major issue here, but it's useful for doing smaller subjects and details, like foals (:
Overall, I loved the cute poses, expressions, and perspective used here! I really enjoy your cartoony style of drawing horses and look forward to seeing more!
Hope I could help~

This is super cute :la: Although I don't quite get why some have black lines and the two in the back have colored lines ^^;

The only reason for that was that I put them in the background and gave them more muted colors. Emphasizing the focus of the image, the front three horse. ;)

Got it, makes perfect sense, that's what I thought the reason was but I wasn't sure ^^;

This is just too cute :3 I like how the adult Clydesdales are just looking at the little colt like "well would you look at? Your boy sure is something, Clyde."
So cute, love how the foal looks so proud of himself :3

Really cute. I was going to try the contest to name it but like the next day I heard they said they planned on naming it Hope anyways, defeats purpose of contest but meh. I love the Budweiser horses and their commercials. :D MY favorite is the snow ball fight and when they play football, of course this one too. It was so sweet when the colt found him.

Me too!! That one's great! I don't know if I could pick a fave though. But this year's was trained by Tommie Turvey, and by golly I met/hugged him before. So I'm a bit partial here. :heart:

How did you do that? Lucky duck :P I love them all and I have seen the horses before. Only reason the freaking beer gets my attention, I only care about their horses. xD
