A Meeting of Angels by SavannaEGoth A Meeting of Angels by SavannaEGoth
This is a slightly older sketch that I began revamping and finishing a while back.  It pretty much just served as practice for drawing my MLP OCs.  Also, DA's a piece of shit for some reason and didn't save this submission and my entire description when my internet stopped working and I had to type everything over.  Joy.

On the left you'll see my ponysona, Strange Angel.  She's supposed to be a descendant of a group of pegasi warriors who were regarded as angels on Equestria.  Whether they were or weren't these celestial beings is the stuff of legend and faith.

The tall feminine stallion on the right is Christan Crosshairs, another descendant of the race of "angel" pegasi.  He takes it upon himself to search out any tortured souls in need of help or saving from others, their situations, etc.  ((I also have him as a breedable right now:  Christian Crosshairs Breedable - 5 SPOTS OPEN ))

The smaller mare is my sicksona, Cinderstitch.  If you look closely, you'll find that she is very malnourished, has stitches where her wings used to be, scars on her "wrists," stringy, dirty, limp hair, and a rather submissive, cowering stance.  What you can't see in the sketch are her numerous cuts and scrapes from accidents (such as getting caught up in barbed wire which happens to her a lot for some reason), her puffy, reddened eyes, and the inflammation on her joints and snout.  Her voice is very scratchy and her coat normally smells faintly of smoke and sweat.  Her hide thins out over areas where her bones poke beneath her skin.  She is often slouching or hanging her head as she is intimidated by nearly anyone and feels especially inferior to anyone who is happy, successful, and even simply taller than her.

You see, she is supposed to represent things about me and things that I've gone through.  I used to be underweight--anorexic.  My skin would be raw over my bones and joints and would crack and bleed if the air was cold or dry, and I could hurt myself pretty badly if I ran into things.  I suffer from chronic depression, and used to cut myself as some of you know.  Also during my more severe bouts of depression, I'd stop paying attention to my hygiene and would neglect bathing, causing dirt to gather in my pores and my hair to become greasy and limp and just all around unappealing.  I suffered from allergies a lot more when I was younger than I do now.  It got to the point where my nose was almost always red and chapped and it felt like it was running or bleeding even when it wasn't.  My eyes were red from either crying or insomnia or allergies or some other irritant, too.  Her smelling like smoke and scratchy voice come from my experiences growing up with my grandparents in a pine forest.  We had to stoke a fire to stay warm in the house since the heater didn't reach all the rooms.  The heat made it feel like a furnace on some nights, and I could sometimes detect the scent of the smoke coming into my room.  It would make my eyes water and burn, and it irritated my throat when I tried warming up by it, but such was owning a fireplace.  Actually, I quite like fireplaces and wood smoke.  I just happen to detest the way it feels going into my lungs and how it clings to fabric and makes everything smell gross.  I would also get caught on barbed wire sometimes when I went to play in the woods, and let me tell you, that shit leaves behind some nasty cuts.  Not something a little kid should ever have to have happen to them when they're just playing outside enjoying nature.  And lastly, her lack of wings has to do with this weird obsession/fascination I had with flying ever since I was small.  Sometimes, as stupid and pathetic as it may sound, I actually get a little down knowing that I'm so grounded and can't experience flight.  Dumb, right?

Anyways, back to the scene:  Christian found Cinder and brought her to meet Strange in hopes of figuring out some ways to help her or get her back on her hooves, so to speak.  However, seeing as she's my sicksona and is therefore a vent OC, their efforts are likely going to prove fruitless.  After all, there are limits even to what angels can do.

I just sat down and read the entire thing. Which is unusual because I hate reading.

But I just wanted to say that you did an amazing job of expressing your feelings through this picture, and the artwork is great. I love how you did it all in pencil to add sort of a "grey" feeling to it. The shading is also really well done.

Wow..thanks for reading it! I honestly thought little to no people would because of the length.

Thank you so much for the feedback and praise. I enjoyed making this piece a lot. It was a little strange sharing some of the things that I did, but it feels sort of nice getting it out there and off my chest. I actually prefer traditional art for that reason. It can make things so much more moody. It also helps that the characters are primarily monochrome in color scheme anyways.
