THE ROGUE SERIES: PART TWO
The Series ~~> [link]
#1- From 1985 to 1988, J.R. Jr. seemed to have some ADD regarding the characters' costumes, Rogue's most of all. Her outfits varied widely between a range of ensembles and accessories, most of the time looking, like most Romita characters in the 1980's, that she was in between an aerobics class and night out at CBGB’s. The outfit shown here is just another of my attempts at an amalgam of these various looks.
#2- Circa 1988, Rogue took on this simple but cool costume when the X-Men relocated to Australia during Marc Silvestri's art run on the book. I had to redo this one, the first attempt used a green that scanned too dark and didn't look right. I think I messed this one up a little. But I like the premier of her super comic book hair.
#3- Around Uncanny X-Men #246, circa 1989, Carol Danver's personality surfaced and took over Rogue's body for a while, forcing her to wear the classic Ms. Marvel costume, which Rogue was not happy about. But I am, because I got the chance to draw it. I like the belt.
#4- In 1991, as Jim Lee was working on the Uncanny X-Men title, Rogue spent time in the Savage Land with SHIELD, Ka-Zar and Magneto (Uncanny #'s 274-275). I know the boys seem to like this look on Rogue, so I added it to the series. I had some trouble with her Jim Lee-style hair at first, but I think I got a hold on it.
