Thief-Slave - Niasren - SP by SaucyMuse Thief-Slave - Niasren - SP by SaucyMuse
So I did a speed paint again :) I've been doing rumbles a lot these past few months but not a portrait and so this was fun. I've had the image I used as a ref saved on my computer for months now knowing that it would end up as a Nia portrait, I just finally did it :) I think she turned out really well, just an hour so the drapery, her outfit and her hands are a lot rougher then I would like but with school I don't have the time to fuss over such things. I had fun fooling around with her hair a bit and I'm pretty happy with how her eyes/mouth turned out, which is where, in case you can't tell, I spent the majority of my time. I've never been overly happy with how I handle those so...yup today's focused.

The image I used as a ref is not stock and belongs to [link] , check out the gallery there, there's some amazing stuff :)

Niasren is a thief slave, as per the title. Born into slavery, sold to a training house when she was young, her specialty, for in the Empire they train their slaves to a specialty, is thieving. On her back, which I mean to do a picture of eventually, she has a tattoo of her training along with a brand/tattoo of the person who owns her, its a silver phoenix holding a black rose. Her name, oddly enough, means wild rose. She is sent on a suicide mission pretty much to investigate the newest Warlord of the only country not under the Empire's rule on their continent and is caught by the Warlord, Alaisdair, who you all have seen before. He's a saint, she's a wild thing, together they just make for a interesting story.

The face is a promising start :)

Oh I should put this one up on the Kitchen too. Thank you :) I choose to focus on one area once I built it up to a good point. Still not as good as you though.

Been meaning to comment on your stuff lately but have failed miserably. Will try to get back into the habit!

Her face looks lovely -- as your faces usually do. You have a good sense for expressions and they always have a really nice clarity.

The rest of this is a good start -- but I wouldn't stop here. She's got a really nice pose, the blocking is all there and solid, but it lacks the same beautiful refinement as her face. I know it's a speedpaint, but I think in future attempts, but I do hope you try and build on this, because I'd really love to see the rest with as much attention given as the face because I think it could be really stunning :)

Awe, thanks <3 And yes, I was really very happy with how her face turned out, I've been playing with the idea of working on it more as I get time. Hands are tricky though.
