Dear Adult Me

Dear Adult Me,

I'm sure you're probably wondering
why I've sent you this letter. It's me;
your past self! If you want to get technical,
I'm your teen self.

Yeah, I know it's hard to believe,
but I just wanted to let you know that
I've been thinking about you a lot lately.
I thought I'd drop you a line and tell you
I'm proud of where you are right now. I don't
know what you're doing yet, but I'm sure it's

You know how we used to dream about becoming
an amazing author and having a wonderful family
of our own? I still think about that and I
hope you were able to achieve that. If not,
well . . . you still have the future. I'm sure
you're still pretty young! The future's always
bright enough to come another day.

Just remember though, even if you change over
time, you'll always be the same person. You'll
always have those little things about you that
make you, well, you. I hope your life
is filled with joy and happiness. We both know
how much you've been wanting it for so long. Not
everything has gone the way you'd hoped in the
past, so I'm praying it is now.

I'm wondering though, did you ever survive school?
Oh, you know how much I hate it! I'm sure you're
over with it by now. Lucky you! I'm sure you did
great though. We're always fine in the end, right?
Right. God only gives us obstacles to make us learn
a lesson and to test us. We may fail sometimes, but
he's there. He's helping us pick up the pieces and
to bring us back up on our feet to stand on steady
ground again.

I know this was short. I'm sorry! I just had to get
some things out before I had to end this letter. But
before I go, there's a few things I want you to
always remember.

1. God has a plan for you. He's just waiting for the right moment to give you what you've been longing for and deserve. I'm still waiting myself!

2. Family is everything. I know they may drive you completely insane and up the wall and around the corner, but they're always there no matter what. You should trust them enough to go to them when you need somebody to lean on.

3. Imagining and dreaming gets you through some tough times. Keep doing those and you'll be fine until the real thing happens!

4. Try and be a better person. If you're a better person, people will usually be a better person back to you.

5. Lastly, believe. Believe that you can do anything that you set your mind to. You may feel like you can't do it or that you're too lazy to, but you can! You just have to give it your all and try!

I'll be fine, I promise. You know how it turns out.
I'm just waiting to finally get there to see where
you're standing. You're probably standing as steady
as a rock in a hurricane. You go, girl! Or, should
I say woman? Either way, you rock! I'll catch up to
you soon. Wait for me!

Until next time Adult Me,
To infinity and beyond . . .
This was my entry for the *DEAR TEEN ME CONTEST

I hope it's what they were asking for :)
