Dynamic octopus

I had 3 octopus paintings like this one to try out new techniques. Sadly, this one was the only one to survive. One was suffocated by acrylics and the other one got turned into an unrecognizable mush by gouache - watercolor ground - paste. This one excelled due to my usual watercolor and colored pencil technique.

I did try to go a bit further with the watercolor layers this time and used more wet-on-dry technique. Think it worked pretty well. I only used very minimal amount of colored pencil. For the background I dropped in a few droplets of rubbing alcohol. The texture is kind of interesting but also very unpredictable so I doubt I will use it in the future.
