Gothic Yorkshire meets Transylvania

When Dracula came to England, he arrived  at Whitby, the beautiful seaside town in Yorkshire.  I took this photo in the graveyard of the Romanian Orthodox Church in Leeds, Yorkshire in 2014.
Transylvania was the home of Dracula and is in Central Romania so that's partly where my inspiration came from on this damp, dreary day in late November.
The other thing that inspired me was that in the very same grounds, late in autumn long after the frosts had started there was this solitary, beautiful, Blood Red Rose growing and blooming in all it's glory when no self respecting, god fearing rose would have dared.

Mwahahahahaha! (Add your own echo)

It's beautiful inside, the priest was very welcoming when he found me outside taking pictures.

Ein Rosengarten
am Ende der Welt,
jenseits der Wälder
geheimnisumwoben.
Dich zu führen
in das verborgene Tal,
wo Rosen und Reben
vergossenem Blut
das Antlitz stahlen;
Dich zu lieben,
dein Lockruf ins Leben
zerriss allen Mut,
due Seele litt Quahlen
um ewig zu siegen.

I'm sorry that it's in German but I wrote this right now out of a very deep feeling.

It is fine, there is always Google Translate.

I'm thrilled that my photo inspired another artist to create.
