An editorial artwork of Scherezade from my comic "1001" (first issue available for free at [link] ).

I wasn't sure how people would react to the bold colors in this piece, but I'm thrilled to say it sold out, twice over, at the recent 2012 Montreal Comic Con. Thank you to everyone who purchased a copy and supported my comic book!

When's Issue Four of "1001" coming out, by the way?

The details are great! I enjoy the contrast of her jewelry against the broad simplicity of her figure.  (*big heart*)
Love it!

Bought this print at Fan Expo or Comic Con Toronto a couple years back I believe and have it hanging in my room. Everyone loves it as much as i do :)

I was sitting at a table close to opposite to you at FanExpo this past weekend, and I always found myself starring at this piece every time I looked in your direction.
Very lovely lines and cool subtle textures.

How big area the sketch pads you work with? Do you opt for traditional india ink or go for markers?

Hi! I'm so sorry I didn't get a chance to see your table! My husband was busy most of the weekend so I didn't get too many opportunities to get up outside of bathroom breaks, haha. I'm glad you like the piece though! This was on 11x17 Strathmore series 500 bristol in plate surface, which is basically unbeatable when it comes to inking-- it's great quality stuff! Otherwise it's all traditional ink and then finishing up in painter/photoshop. :D

Thanks for the reply!
Do you draw directly on the bristol board or transfer a drawing to it?
sanya's avatar
I always transfer via a light table: otherwise I end up scoring the paper with too many pencil marks and the ink suffers for it. :)

That makes sense, thanks for sharing :)

Orange is such an underrated colour.

Lovely simple, but greatly detailed piece. <3

Thanks Pirhan! I was a bit nervous about the orange originally... :P

Hi! I checked out the comic and I really liked it. I really like your style and Scherezade is a great character (the way you've written her). I look forward to seeing more of this story. :)
