Starting 2018, i present to you guys a Family of the Blandopoda that had conquered the skies: the Blandoptera! (Very original, I know)
The amount of different flying species on Anu is at least 5 times bigger than here on Terra, and a large portion of those are from Blandoptera, who mostly populates the skies of the Abzul Belt.
They are three-winged creatures (usually with a predatorial branch adapting the frontal limbs into "grabbing" appendages and whatnot) with its limbs adapted on a bland, fine and porous membrane (different from Ciliomembrana, for example).
Another characteristic is the almost predominance of a "serpent form", probably derived from the way they fly: it is literally sky swimming. The low gravity of the planet, the denser atmosphere, a flat anatomy and the abundance of “air-sacs” on the blandoptera's body help a lot to agile, fast-pacing an quick maneuvers on an elongated form.
Aeronantis nocturnus is a unique blandoptera: it’s the only flying predator that hunts at night, in nocturnal rains of ANU. Its body presents a rubbery texture, they are pretty light weight (an average human can hold one of them on one arm without problem) and its wings are slippery and strong. You can say that his skin it is its own raincoat.
Their frontal limbs had adapted on a pair of snatching arms that can grab and hold small creatures that hide from the nocturnal rains under the “leaves” of the tallest “Trees” of the Abzul Belt.
(looking foward for more of Hodea, btw)
Not only is the design amazing, I am also really intrigued by the description. I can really imagine these magnificent creatures swimming through the rain and snatching up smaller animals with those raptorial arms.
Also pretty intrigued by the mention of trees... looking forward to seeing those
i'm working on a piece right now to explore a bit of the trees in the planet. The bad thing is, as always, i take too much time on doing so lol
Thank you for the feedback tho, appreciatted
As for the names, these:
Since my native language is a Romantic one, is a bit easy to get Latim. But my names are not that good lol
(already happened for me to mix up greek and latin. More than once)
First Sanrou, now you? 2018 is looking up for my favorite spec-evo projects!
"when it comes out"
Oh man, can't wait
