Anthropomorphic Russian animals always make me think of hapless adventurers lost under the black mountain.
Side note, because I tripped up on "армия": It translates literally as "The people and the army united", which sounds a bit different than "workers and soldiers" to me. Workers and soldiers are individuals who might join together, but the people and the army are already groups without individuality.
