ArtistsForCharity is a new idea to grace the pages of deviantART.  We, the seniors, have the pleasure of introducing this group to the community.  This idea was first formed after the passing of randomcasualty and strivingtoexist, both from cancer.  We desired to reach out and help in some fashion.  From this, ArtistsForCharity was born.

The goal of ArtistsForCharity is to help charities by doing what we love, by creating art.  This will be accomplished by seniors submitting art to be sold as prints with all the profits going to charity.  In this sense, this project is unlike any other done so far here.  We will not be asking for donations.  Instead, we are selling art with the proceeds going to the charity.  These prints will be exclusively donated for this group and will not be available anywhere else. In other words, you get to buy exclusive prints from some of the coolest artists around and all the money goes to charities.  How cool is that?

As stated above, deviantART will be donating all profits.  This means that the administration has graciously agreed to donate their portion of the profits as well.  In addition, lolly provided the account both a subscription and print account for free, and we are very thankful for that.  Without the support of staff of deviantART getting this project underway would have been impossible.

The ArtistsForCharity account will be run by seniors, but other deviants will be asked to participate. If you are a senior and would like to participate, note insaneone or nighty.  For all the seniors who are in for this project, start making artwork! We're ready to make a difference. If you aren’t a senior, the best way you can help us is by telling others and then buying prints when the project is fully functional

The following seniors are currently involved with starting the project.

insaneone
nighty
sanguru
Ghouldaddy
bigdavec

The charity to be donated to has not been chosen yet. It will be chosen by senior vote. The following are under consideration:

:bulletgreen: unicef
:bulletgreen: Artistshelpingchildren
:bulletgreen: American Cancer Society
:bulletgreen: Habitat for Humanity
:bulletgreen: International Red Cross

While this group has made a big effort in getting this group started, and several big hurdles have been covered, there is still a lot of work to happen before ArtistsForCharity is fully up and running.  We are working as quickly as possible to get it underway.  Keep your eyes open for later news releases on the states up this new group. We anticipate it being fully functional in a few weeks.

Questions can be addressed here, or you can note insaneone or nighty with any regarding this new group.  Also, feel free to stop by #artistsforcharity, and we will try to help answer your questions there.

This seems like a very good idea, my choice would be the International Red Cross, they seem to be the main group , now, who really get in there and help with all of the natural disasters, and otherwise in the world,

That's an awesome idea, to combine donating money and buying prints like that!
You definitely should chose an international charity, since dA is an international community. Money will come from all over the world and should be directed to where it's most needed in the world, not just into a single country.

I wish I could actually help effectively. But I can't. I can't publicise anything very well (I'm not well known), and I can't buy anything (no credit card). I'll link to this in my journal, but I doubt that'll do anything much at all.

This is a fantastic idea. I've been working on featuring individual members who have a sense of compassion in their deviations, this could be an excellent work to change the heart of DA

I am more than happy to help since my wonderful girlfriend has suffered twice from cancer. Is there any way the less artistic of us can help? I'm more than happy to buy the prints to help but is there anything else we can do to help as well?

great idea and selection of charities- however i have to disagree with the american cancer society- if all benefits will be kept within the US? DA is an international site, and that should be kept in mind :)

I agree with ~Iocus that an international charity would be best, considering that DA is an international website. Also, I also don't believe that this group should exclude the rest of the DA population. There are many fantastic artists on here that are not seniors that would produce prints I would buy personally, so why exclude people from contributing?

This is a great idea. I think it would be best to donate the money to an international charity, personally, as DA is an international website, and you're likely to have artists from many different locales contributing.

I think it's unfair (as well as irresponsible) to only involve seniors in this particular venture. There are many artists on dA who would love to help and excluding them from participating in something like this isn't helping the charity, now is it?

I think plans on allowing those who aren't seniors 'sign up' somewhere for this needs to be discussed by the administrators, pronto.

In time non seniors will be asked to take part. But as you might know there is 1.5 million deviants or better. So limiting it to seniors till we have it going smoothly was the best option.

I understand that it has to be a small group to start it, but from what it sounded like in the post many were lead to believe that it would remain as just a senior project.

"Our Banking Clan is willing to sign your treaty."
- San Hill,
Star Wars - Episode II: Attack of the Clones

Seriously, though, where innocent blacks, Mexicans, and Jews are oppressed by cyberbullies, I will be there to stand up for the innocent. Where lilacs are being nibbled alive, I will be there to shoot any rabbits responsible. And, if the plumbing in your house doesn't lead to anywhere, I will make those pipes lead to a better tomorrow, because I am sick of this horsehockey! I will not rest until this community is free from the sinister influences of Social Darwinism and other such white supremacist philosophies. Where evil Separatist droid armies are firing upon cute and innocent Wookiees, I'll be there with the Clone Armies of the Republic. I will not condone any murderous, anti-Semitic, pro-K.K.K., or Socially Darwinistic art or sattire in my fanart community. I will accept everybody for who and what they are because I have, myself, been bullied before. I suggest that the DeviantArt community needs a large council to discuss problems with fanart in the community.

And, with the art for charity, it is a good cause. I am willing to support the charity. Now, where do I sign up for that?
