C4D/VRay

I'd put the year at about 2024

*Updated with final revision.

Notes: So this render took 12 hours on a 16 core machine, I'd hate to have seen it render on my old workstation. The settings are incredibly high to eliminate noise in the frosted glass, though some of it still came through with the color/contrast fixes. Thanks for all your pointers on what worked and what didn't, it's been a real help in realizing the final version. It's not much, but a respectable piece for my portfolio. Cheers.

This simple and clean version looks great!

I'm glad to see such great work with c4d/VRay (and many more in your gallery) since i choose to learn it instead of 3ds max or maya. This motivates me a lot!

Keep the good work! ;)

Looks great!
I would remove those big speakers and put some other that are tall, thinner, modern, elegant..like these:
[link]
or like this tall ones on the sides

..but it does look awesome as it already is! ;)

I like the speakers, but I feel like others have said, that perhaps they're slightly too big.

I don't like to say it but I think previous version was better. It looks overdone now. Especially speakers & this pattern on TV screen.

I'll shoot for a new render tonight and will try to strike a balance between the two.
The previous shot felt incomplete to me.

Yeah, I like the color in the other one, but for a modernist environment it feels a bit overcrowded. The speakers beside the tv have a beautiful finish and great lights, but they feel too big to me. With them there the room feels crowded, and then I started noticing other things like the increased number of speakers above the tv on the ceiling and the head with the microphones, etc. They make some *great* speakers already that are super skinny and tall. I feel like something along those lines might fit in better. You could still keep the wood grain, and maybe throw in some lighting as rings around the speakers on their bodies...

I must agree though, I feel torn between the two because once I see speakers I feel like their should be something more... maybe just not so much more.

I love your work, fantastic!

Thanks,
zafa

It's a tough call and a long ass to sit through again, even with 16 cores.

Aesthetically though I like this one more, but I will make a few adjustments tonight and aim for a nice mix of the two.

Amazing work...I have some questions... I guess you already worked with 3ds max and i would like to ask if you create your 3d objects in C4D and is it faster to work then in 3ds max? And do you create your scenes from the scratch or did you accumulate 3d objects and materials over the years, if not please tell me how much time does it take you for a scene like this one.
Thank you in advance

C4D is more fluid and Artist friendly, but that's just my opinion. I accumulate 3D objects/textures, some materials I have in a stash, some I build on the fly. This scene took about a day to setup, about a day to populate and another day to tweak the lighting.

But why in the hell would you use such small digits (size) on such a big panel? It does not make any sense. Also while I agree that white font color looks more aesthetically appealing I'd end up suing something more contrast (that, or bigger font size).

I didn't give it much thought and was actually lazy with the TV interface for technical reasons.
But perhaps you can drag those icons, as sort of 'widgets' and they get bigger on the screen.
I imagine (at least in my mind) that it responds to hand gestures.

This is an amazing piece, very vivid and life-like. I love how everything seems so modern then you drop something as simply as that monitor in the middle of the room and I feel like I've been blasted a couple of hundred years into the future. Beautiful work!

Transparent TV! (It's a TV, right?) an extraordinary idea! but I think it will happen sooner then 2024, more like 2015... well at least thats what I think!

Man, it looks so real; I mean at first I thought it was real!

Amazing work!

But why do I wondering about this when floppy displays exists since 2008 (at least this is the year when I sow them) as prototype!

I agree. I would imagine that a back lit black screen would exist on a secondary layer, but scientifically I'm not sure how that would work.
