A lighting and composition study

Two half days to create.
Of course relies heavily on purchased models, had it not, it would have taken months to create.

*updated with new render\

This is interesting. It looks like a cross between a person's home and an antique shop. I like it.

two and a half days to complete.. but my question is, did you have all the other modelings as past projects, or are you talking about ... from zero? just want to know how far away i am from you... i'd appreciate if you can give me an honest answer.. thank you.

90% of the models are free or purchased.

Try to think of environment (or set design) as a photographer would. He's not sculpting all that he sees, only constructing an image from pre-existing objects.

In the case of the 3D artist, the labor is often in texturing and lighting. Professionally we're encouraged to purchase models, always. Simply because I can spend $200 on an object and continue on with the project vs spending 5 days creating the car for yourself and delaying production.

There isn't anything here I couldn't model. But in the interest of seeing results and for my impatience, I don't bother. However now that I have ZBrush sculpting down, I want to construct a scene comprising of all original 'alien' artifacts, models you probably won't find anywhere to purchase.

Looks good, I was going to ask about the clay-like material on the top right chandelier, but I saw your post below. Maybe redo that material and set a "render - region/object" around it and composite it in. Other than that, it's a very well done scene.
