In the Jurassic, birds evolved from small specialized coelurosaurian theropods, and are today represented by 10,000 living species.

Damn that's brilliant!
I love how thorough and detailed you get as well; on top of keeping to accurate proportions while keeping each different specimen interesting yet realistically plausible (and I know how maddening trying to get a new unique skin texture can get!)

I'm really sorry to hear that mate. I won't ask what (for respect for your privacy) but hope you recover :)
If its any consolation, been through plenty of horrible stuff myself over the last few years, so you're not alone.

Apparently there were some subtle differences in the structure of the vertebrae between Allosaurus and Saurophaganax remains, making the prospect of them different species... slightly probable?
That said, Saurophaganax would have been otherwise completely identical to Allosaurus (assuming it is a difference species after all).

source?

the largest allosaurus specimens are about the same size as some of the Saurophaganax individuals that have been found (~10.8 meters and ~3.9 tonnes) but that does not make them the same thing.

That's an interesting one in itself. I've noticed a lot of charts and citations are now putting Carcharadontosaurus as being larger than giganotosaurus.
Admittedly, the problem is we don't actually have complete skeletons of either animal- but enough of the "important" bones for gauging size to make some speculation possible.
