I used to but I've removed my art stuff from it and don't really update it anymore. I've been meaning to start another one more seriously when I have time, but in the meantime, I do not :)

It seems all the awesome Canadian artists I know of graduated from Sheridan! It's bloody expensive though..

I guess it depends how much you're willing to spend on the career you'll have for the rest of your life. It was a good investment for me.

That is a good point. I guess there is always the question of if it will be worth the amount of money you're paying for, and if you could seek the same for less somewhere else. Everyone has a different opinion so there isn't a concrete answer to that.

The experience of meeting people who love what you love and bettering yourself through them and the world that opens up to you at school was the best part of what I got out of it. I lacked direction and new paths where shown to me. If you're just looking for technical teaching, it is not too hard to teach that to yourself.

I hope this isn't too much of a personal question, and you don't have to answer it if you don't want to. :meow:

Working as an artist, is it bringing you a stable income?

Some months are better than others but I've made a living off it. The art world is never really "stable" one day you have a project, the next you don't.

Do you have a default canvas size/resolution in photoshop?
I'm trying to paint images large enough to be sold as prints, but having a hard time choosing a good size. I understand it's dependent on what you're actually painting and how big you want it printed, but do you have any advice?
For example, would you mind telling me what size you chose to paint Venetian Gold as?

You stated clearly on your commissions page that the rates shown were for personal purposes. How do you price commissions for commercial purposes? Do you have any tips and/or resources for determining the commercial commission rates? :D Thanks for your time.

I'm planning to post an article about some great Photoshop artists in my blog and would like to show some of your works (low resolution, width 550px), of course, giving you credits, links... Can i do it? I don't know which of them are done only with using Photoshop... if you want to indicate two arts to show...
My blog is here [link]

That would be fine. 90% of my art is photoshop. If there are some you had in mind you are welcome to give me their links and I can tell you.

My friend runs a print shop, so I give her my printing business. Online my prints are available through DA if I don't have a private sale going on.

Question, but I'm not sure if I'm wording it right:

Does being in an art college have an advantage when it comes to being hired by a company/studio? Like, do job offers happen to certain people in your college when they're about to graduate, because companies would come to your college to look at students as potential employees?

@_@ Sorry if it's confusing, I don't know how to ask it properly. While I know I want to work within the art industry, I also want to know whether going to college is anything different from an art university.

I recommend asking someone else as I have not gone to "art" collage and don't really know how the industry works in all art trades. This is a very vauge question as everything depends on what exactly you want to do. "Art" is not really an answer.

I'm a high school student who will be going into college this fall but I'm still unsure about my future plans. I do know that my true passion is art and even if I may not pursue a main career in it, I will continue to try and impove my abilities.

One question that I have to ask you, and hopefully have your opinion on is about going to an art college (I won't hold it against you if you don't have the time to answer. I understand that we all have busy lives).

Q: Do you think that people can self teach themselves to the level that someone can potentially get to in an art college? Or is there some point where people need to have some sort of push and help from a tutor? This probably varies from person to person but I want to hear how you think since you've been in an art college and I want to hear perhaps how beneficial it was to you.

A: I'm not sure I could answer that being that "Art Collage" is so vague. I guess it really depends what you want to do and what you want to learn. I personally have found the collage experience invaluable to my learning in general, but a lot of other people I know who go to "art collage" to study art find it to be a total waste of time in terms of their learning and what they want to do. I did not go to "art collage" and I did not study "Art" in the way that a lot of people assume, so I couldn't even begin to recommend a good art collage to you or give you any sort of measure of how an art collage could help you.

Thank you for taking your time to answer!
You're answer is basically what I wanted to hear. I wasn't looking for any suggestions on an art college or anything and you gave me a perspective that's not from someone who's trying to get high school students to go to their college. Thanks again :]

Q: Will you teach me/give me private lessons?
A: Yes, you can commission private lessons from me on an hourly basis online providing they are open or if you live in the GTA we can do them in person.

Just out of curiosity,

1) How do you usually do online lessons?

2) What kinds of programs do you do tutorials for?

3) Urr... haha, but urm... where and what is GTA? xD *is geographically incompetent*

4) How much do you usually charge for 1 hour?

/// I'm sorry if you already stated this somewhere. I tried looking through the commissions page but could not find it. Nice FAQ though ;)

1) depending on what kind of lesson it is, I use either open canvas 1 (for drawing lessons) or I use a live video feed such as here: [link] with a mic/typing depending on preference of commissioner.

2) I do tutorials mostly for photoshop (though if it's a program I've used in my gallery, I can probably teach you to use it). I also do non-program specific tutorials such as anatomy, posing, painting techniques, colouring, mood, composition, etc. It's usually easier to ask me if I can teach something you have in mind rather than ask what I teach ^^;

3) Greater Toronto Area

4) I generally charge $25/h, regardless of how many people are involved (I find friends often like splitting it with other friends and having 3-5 people involved making it like $4/h each)

I'm glad I'm not the only one who loves the artistic style of manga and much anime, but can take or leave watching it!

I've tried to explain to my friends loads, I don't care about the story or how ground breaking it was...if it doesn't please me visually I'm not gonna like it. They just don't get it tho!

Detailed faq too, which is good. I only have one more question...chocolate or vanilla?
