Yes! This is the story that came out of the recent Poll and there will be a Contemporary Hospital segment. Right now I'm laying a bit of groundwork, a prelude as it were.

So, here we are in the jungle camp of the late Dr. Alexander Throkel, aka Dr Cyclops. I know that many of you had assumed that Maria Santiago had perished prior to the arrival of the Bullfinch Expedition. But you were wrong then, weren't you?

Sally,

I thoroughly enjoyed this "sequel" of sorts to another classic of shrunken fiction, "Dr. Cyclops" I have seen the 1940 film many times and read an adaptation of the film, but I have never read the Kuttner original. I was unaware of the character of Maria and that she was another woman in the story who was shrunken by Dr. Thorkel as one of his first experiments. Leave it to you to fashion such a fascinating tale of one of the supposedly minor characters in the story. I do recall at the end of the film that the surviving "Little People" were beginning to grow back to normal size. Here is the adapted version with the very "pulp" cover.

The writing had your wonderful detailed descriptions of the situations and events and it was very interesting to have this told by Maria herself in the first person. Of course you know so much about how shrunken people behave in almost any situation. So the story flowed well and was a very enjoyable read.

Excited to read the next installment.

Thanks, Sally!
