FEATURES I WOULD LOVE TO SEE ON DA AS BOTH AN ARTIST, A SELLER, AND A BUYER ❄️


The main feature I would love to see back, would be a proper app, or if that’s not an option, to make the browser app mobile friendly, as currently it’s just the website but smaller, making it awkward to browse, easy to miss click any button you’re trying to press, and it’s frankly obvious it wasn’t built to be used on the phone.
It isn’t relaxing anymore to browse new artwork on the phone during breaks in my day, and I find myself drifting towards other apps like Pinterest instead.

A proper wish list that either the user themselves can buy anything that’s still available directly from it, or another user can buy from it for them – nice addition would be that we can choose if we get notified over certain people’s birthdays if we’re watching them, so we’re directly prompted to see if there’s anything in their dA wishlist we’d like to get for them as a gift.

A cart so that we can buy multiple items in one go, especially useful during sales so we can buy once instead of having to add the necessary details after each adopt we want to purchase, this would be a huge quality of life improvement and would honestly my second most preferred feature to be added.

Being able to buy single files from a batch upload: What I mean here is, it is easier to advertise a batch to get more eyes on the designs included, may they follow the same theme or pattern, but if you want them to all also be offered as exclusives, you have to separately link them as exclusives after uploading them separately as well, so for this, I would love to be able to upload a batch, with proper numbered or named tags on each design, and be able to upload the files on the batch itself, where the buyer can choose which ones they want through a drop down menu, with the bought out ones being greyed out, making it also easy to see what is still available.
This would also reduce upload clutter, and allow for other users to be seen in the home page, as less images would need to be uploaded for those who do batches.

For those who have either the NSFW or AI filter on, for it to be active in comments and journals as well, as when you expect to have a sanitized viewing experience, seeing certain content in the comments, or the journal, or even in your own profile page comments, is a bit… well, a loophole that shouldn’t be able to be exploited.

Let every user use a hype badge a week to encourage a sense of community, not just those of us with a core+ or higher membership, it’s something that would benefit a lot of users, and would help lower the wall that has been built between the team, core+ members and higher, and non-core users, when ideally, there shouldn’t be a wall at all.

dA has been periodically losing users every time they reinforce their stance in being pro-AI, moving their userbase to other sites like VGen that are publicly anti-AI, even though they are difficult to get an entry ticket for to start on, with the recent drop due to the app being nuked, now is the most important time to realise that while AI can bring in money, it isn’t a long term solution and if dA waits for laws to be passed protecting the artists that were violated in the creation of the AI image creation tools, any remaining credibility they could have regained by changing their stance before then, will be an opportunity forever lost.
And I fear that day will be the day dA will become another site from the old internet days, no longer viable, relevant, profitable, or worthy of community.

Let buyers choose to be anonymous so they’re not harassed to sell their purchases to other users, with maybe the only exception being the original creator who they bought it from so they can keep track who the current owner of their work is.

More for educational purposes, but a small section of dA being an explanation of what copyright is and how it protects artists work, the amount of times I’ve had someone ask me “what is stopping me from just taking this” has been frustratingly high as it’s a clear indicator that they’re not familiar of what copyright is, when it’s applicable, and how it protects an artist’s work upon creation.
Just because you see an image online, doesn’t mean you can just download it and use it how you want to.

Since it’s become harder for newer artists to stand out and make a name for themselves, maybe host a weekly “up and coming”-newspaper type “event”, where you can highlight up and coming artists or designers of a specific niche, from floor planning, ych commissions, potions, magic spell circles, tomes, dragons, etc., announcing at the end of the current one what the theme of that of next week would be, and allowing people to submit either their own creations or that of others in the comment section, with a requirement being that the creator has to have under a certain amount of watchers, to prevent only the popular ones being featured.

If you want to maintain that creating exclusive adoptables be a core feature, let new accounts start with a month of core so that they can try it for themselves, if they like it and it works for them, then they can already decide if it’s something they want to invest in, it’s a better alternative than having to beg for diamond badges to be given a shot at trying the features dA is implementing.
Although personally I don’t agree with the feature being blocked behind core at all to begin with.

I would use auctions more if there were an option to auto accept the highest bid upon timeout, rather than having to manually accept it, but only IF apart from there being a starting bid, and an autobuy, a minimum bid increase is added to the settings, as personally I have it set in the rules as MI of $5, but sometimes people bid only in $1 increments. It would also be nice if no two people could make the same bid as well.
The reason I say this is because I can’t always be keeping an eye out on what’s going on dA, and I would find it unfair to let the buyer wait an undetermined amount of time for their bid to be selected because of that.

On top of the auction feature request above, adding another notification section for on-going auctions that have started, with a timer attached to them and the current highest bid, might help them get more attention and reach a higher point, as currently if an older auction starts, it tends to only get it’s starting bid and that’s it.

Clear communication on what dA is working on feature wise, both currently, what to expect in the short term, and what to expect in the long term. Tell us where you stand and what to expect going forward, as currently it feels like we’re fumbling with each update trying to figure out how to implement it all of a sudden, how to use it, how to avoid it, how to work with it or around it based on what we do on dA.

It would be nice to have a more direct line of communication with dA and each other, most sites have a discord server that allows for announcement, general chat, self promotion, art trades, challenges, etc., something like that for dA might help the feeling of community and connection that is currently missing!
Plus if there’s anything the team is unsure about, you can always host votes to see which way your community leans on certain aspects.
Not only that, but there is a bot that would allow members to suggest a feature, and automatically rewrite the message with a voting system under it to check how people feel about said feature, which might work a lot better, and faster, than the current system on the site, and from here, the team could then add which features they themselves plan on adding onto a separate chat channel so both the community know it’s in the works, and to not suggest it.
An extra idea would be an additional channel with rejected ideas, with ideally the reasoning behind it. Most of dA’s users are adults, if we know why something isn’t viable, then it isn’t viable, but just being told no with no reasoning told feels aggressive and dismissive at times.

Silly addition maybe, but a badge like the core badge that notifies other that the user sells exclusives or has premium downloads for sale?

Also as a buyer I would like to be able to organise what I buy into different folders for navigational purposes, as some of the stuff I buy are for certain worlds or characters, and it would be easier to navigate what I’m looking for like that than by scrolling the list itself.

Optional or universal: Disabling the ability to right click on a deviation to prevent people from downloading as is, and if possible, hide the image source code from the inspect feature on browsers

For subscriptions, allow the options to allow subscribers to claim 'x' amount of either premium downloads or exclusive adoptables from a specific folder per month

When an exclusives sells, have the option to automatically change folders, either from removing it from certain folders it was in before, or moving it to a new folder [i.e.: open adopts to deselecting it, or moving it to a closed adopts folder as a few examples]

If automatically accepting a higher bid ever becomes available [especially if a minimum bid increase from previously highest bid], have the option to disable comments in the bid, to prevent auto selecting a bid with an included art or character offer.

Have the option to link the account to a discord bot that will update the chat when sales happen as a way to update what exclusives are no longer available, especially useful to quickly see what is still availble in batch uploads depending on how the chat is managed in Discord

Be able to set beforehand what gallery to show at the bottom before the comments section, including whether it should be newest or random - I spend a lot of time in total making sure this is enabled for each upload on my main and alt, this feature would save time ^-^

Automatic title, at least partially: Open for exclusives that are still available, closed for when they've been bought out, especially helpful during sales when exclusives sell fast, would also work into making the titles easily understood as more languages are added onto the platform, where it's crucial being able to distinguish if an item is still available or not through the title

IMPORTANT FOR SUBSCRIPTIONS & DISCOUNTS: Please allow for there to be multiple discount options for subscription tiers, I'd love to give my subscribers a higher discount in exchange for a higher monthly contribution for economic stability
