Hm. I don't agree with you about the male Ariel looking almost awkward. I think this angle is just fine for him and he looks great. I think it looks SO great, in fact, that it makes me wish that they'd made Ariel male in canon. And makes me want to go read Little Mermaid gender-bend fanfic to read just so I can imagine this version in the fics.

I checked all gallery to confirm Your opinion.. and I can't agree with it, when You make so many artworks some poses, angles will repeat but in this gallery is big variety of them same goes for faces. And male Ariels neck doesn't hurt an eye, I wouldn't even consider it "awkward" or "off" if You didn't mention it. I think You are searching for a hole when it's whole.
