Thank you for taking the time to share this experience with us in such a beautiful manner. I've had similar thoughts run through my head after losing my grandfather and to read of others experiencing them helps it not feel so bad for feeling that way. I hope writing this was able to bring you a bit of solace.

My condolences; that was very moving, and I hope a lot of people saw this before my slow poky self started working through the DA backlog. I feel similarly about death - I'm pretty sure this is all you get - so I try to let people know I care while they're here, and I try to be content with that, but you still always think you're going to have more time with them than you do. My heart goes out to you and yours.

Such a beautiful comic, and hits home for me as well. Been thinking about death and how I don't feel like there's anything after death and that terrifies me, and trying to find ways of acceptance. Beautiful work

That was award winning.  I mean that very seriously.  I hope you publish it in a form that can be judged for major comic awards.

Thank you for sharing this deeply personal story-- it isn't an easy thing to do. I hope you we able to achieve a certain level of catharsis by drawing this comic; either way, I'm sure you've touched many hearts.

I've shared this hope for decades now but cannot bring myself to believe something i truly cannot accept as true. You did a great job in illustrating that hope. Also, if you're so inclined, Paradise Lost illustrated that hope in a song called "True Belief". I view that song as being of the same hope anyway.

All the best. :)

I am so sorry for your loss. Having lost my grandma recently this was a very moving read for me, so I can only imagine how you felt drawing it. This is a beautiful tribute to your dad, thank you for sharing it with us.

Thank you for sharing this with us, it was beautiful, and very touching :)

I like to think of the first law of thermodynamics - energy cannot be created or destroyed - of course this technically supports pretty much every theory of death and/or the afterlife, but it's nice to think that no matter what happens, something of the person you loved and lost is out there somewhere, and they'll always be around in some shape or form.

thank you for this. my grandpa also went in for a check up, pneumonia that then turned into something else. He was also there for barely a month. He passed away May 21st. I've been having a hard time with it all, same as you really, forced to see the world in a different way because of what's happened. So thank you for this, it was beautiful and touching and comforting to me. I hope you find consolation for you and your family. Thank you.

I'm so sorry to hear about your grandpa, and so recently too. I can only imagine how hard it is for you right now. Thank you for all your kind words about this comic. I think one of the hardest things to cope with after a loved one passes away is how lonely grief is ... it makes me feel good to know that I could bring you even a small measure of comfort. Take care of yourself and your family. <3

Thank you. It was incredibly difficult to write and draw at times. But it was probably the most important part of the grieving process for me -- after I was finished it I felt entirely wrung out, but like I was finally ready to come back to the world.
