~ About 'Essie' ~
'Essie' is a horror/comedy comic set in an alternative Victorian England and Wales. The stoyline revolves around a young girl, cast into an asylum by the matron of her orphanage after refusing to give up her stuffed rabbit. Essie, the titular character, must survive the terrible conditions of her new home, along with a few friends she picks up along the way.
As things progress, however, Essie finds that nothing is as it seems, and terrible danger may be lurking just around the corner.
The story itself, while it may look like an innocent cartoon adventure, contains strong language, gore, heavy themes of abuse and mental distress, as well as dark humor that not everybody may find funny. It's my own personal way of dealing with stress and trauma, so that's not about to change. If you would like to read it, you can start from the beginning here: sadoalice.deviantart.com/galle…
This is the first story arc only, and this one is therefore much tamer than the future arcs will be. I hope you enjoy! I try to update regularly, but with my hectic schedule it isn't possible sometimes.

~ More Info ~
I'm Annya, a student from New Hampshire. Here you'll find my musings, art, and the odd story or two. Drawing has been my passion since about fifth grade, and writing since kindergarten.
Some of my art deals with unsettling themes. I enjoy the gore/guro/menhera aesthetic, which I understand may be strange or offensive to some. If this bothers you, I would respectfully request you have fun somewhere else. Also in my art you may find themes of abuse, but it is much more prominent in my writing. If there is something particularly graphic, I will put a warning in it, but most of these things are unmarked.
I sometimes use art as a coping mechanism and a tool for expression. Despite this, you may find the occasional cutesy thing in my gallery. As much as I love the macabre, I love the adorable as well.
Racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, the bashing of specific lifestyles or fetishes, hating on specific users or art styles is NOT tolerated here by any means. Don't bring negativity onto my page, please. This is an art site, not a debate club.
I like gothic, victorian, steampunk and lolita aesthetics and fashion, gore, guro and menhera, glitch aesthetic, Alice in Wonderland, pastels, cute things like stuffed animals and bunnies, candy and donuts, the woods, fog, rainy cobblestone, bricks, abandoned hospitals and asylums, drawing (obviously), writing (also obviously), pizza, cooking, surgical tools and masks, ghost stories, ghost hunting, ghosts in general, sewing, collecting, and the colors black, white, and grey.
