It was going to be a fun day. The sky was a deep robin’s egg blue color.  as the tokotas were headed towards the lake to go ahead and do some fishing while they were out. The ones that were going included Mercury, Kiera, as they were all eager to have a good time while they were out that day. They were also having another surprise tokota as Kangee was going to join them and they were going to be happy to see everyone there.

“Good morning everyone! Are you ready to have a good time today?” Sevrin asked. He hadn’t noticed any signs of bad weather approaching, but he didn’t seem to mind it at all. The weather was looking pretty good. However, there were signs of storms approaching later in the day so the tokotas were going to make sure they got their fishing in before the bad weather came.

As the tokotas approached the lake that was when they noticed that Mauja was already there as he greeted them. He seemed like he was on a mission, “Don’t mind me being here, I’m just making sure that this area isn’t set up by some wild poachers. There seem to be some in the area and they are not interested in doing things our way.” Mauja said with a sigh knowing the task was put on him and made sure it was a heavy task at hand.

Kiera frowned hearing this as she and the others approached the water’s edge. “When did you see the poachers last time, Mauja? It appears things are pretty quiet now.” Kiera asked. Mercury, Sevrin and Kangee were all concerned about this as well. The moment of poachers brought to their mind, was nothing good. As they had encountered poachers in the past. But they were going to focus on their fish attempt at hand as they focused towards the water.

“I haven't seen them today, which is good news for them. But they were spotted a few days ago and they were helping themselves to the fish at the lake and pelts of wild animals. Which will not be welcomed.” Mauja said with a sigh.

Sevrin nodded as Mercury and Kiera had already started to fish as Sevrin knew this wasn’t good either. Kiera and Mercury were just as concerned. But they wanted to focus on their fish attempt to make sure that they were able to get all the fish that they could find. Once they took their turns in focusing on the fish. Mercury focused on the water, and her blue eyes were not letting go of it. That was when a fish came to the surface, as Mercury went and grabbed it.

“We’ll make sure that we see any poachers. We will tell you, Mauja, we do not want this to get any worse.” Sevrin said. “Though we might have to turn back, some of those clouds don’t look super friendly.” Sevrin said as Kangee and Mauja both saw the clouds.

“Don’t worry you guys keep fishing, we have a few hours before we have to call it quits.” Kangee assured Mercury, Kiera, and Sevrin both knew that they could keep going at this point in time.

While Mercury, Kiera and Sevrin were focusing on the fishing attempt at hand. That was when Kangee got distracted from the fish. They had wondered what was going on here. As Mauja noticed something that had gone wrong. That was when Mauja had noticed that something was moving in the brush. As the tokota rushed forward at it he gave a sharp growl as Kangee had noticed he was gone. Sevrin, Kangee, and Kiera all looked up wondering what was going on as they got distracted from their fishing. Even Mauja got distracted as well.

“Where did Mauja go? We thought he was still here?” Mercury asked.

“He’s chasing someone away. I think he might be a little on edge.” Sevrin said.

“Mauja where did you go!?” Kangee asked. That was when the tokotas got worried as they were thinking they might have to abandon the fish attempt. They could always come back and get their fish. It wasn’t long before Mauja came out of the bushes as he was panting a bit. It wasn’t long before he came forward and had brush and leaves all over him as he shook them off.

“I’m sorry guys I had to chase that one off. It wasn’t a human, it was actually a fox!” Mauja said. “Darn fox he can’t fish for himself so he will try to steal from others. That is a way of lazy fishing and hunting if I ever saw one.” Mauja said with a huff. Mercury, Kiera, and Sevrin were all glad to see that he was safe. And so did Kangee as they were relieved to see that he was fine for the most part.

“You gave us one heck of a scare, Mauja. I’m just glad you’re alright.” Sevrin said with a sigh. Kangee, Mauja, Kiera, and Mercury all regrouped as they were ready to have a fun time with the fish attempt. The tokotas knew that they could have a good time at the lake. As they began to focus back on the water again, they could look forward to more fishing attempts.

Kiera went first, as the tokotas went back to the fish attempt. She focused hard on the water, making sure she was looking for any shadows of fish. The fish there were being careful as they went to the top of the water. However, it was too late for them. There was one fish that went to the surface, as the tokota was able to grab one before it swam away. Kiera was very proud of her fishing practice as Mercury knew she had been taught well. It was Mercury’s turn next as she went and focused hard on the water. She was waiting patiently for a fish to appear, and one finally did. As Mercury went and grabbed it before it swam away.

“Hey guys,” Sevrin said as he had one fish in his mouth. “I think we can wrap up soon.” He added as some time had passed as the tokotas knew it was later in the day. They had caught fair amount of fish. As Mauja and Kangee had joined in. It looked like the weather had been able to hold out as far as they were concerned. And that was the good news for them. It wouldn’t start to rain until later that night.

“Aw one more fish?” Kiera asked as the barbary tokota looked at her mother.

Mercury shook her head, “There will be other times to fish, Kiera. We must leave soon or it’ll get dark out at dusk.” Mercury said. The tokotas quickly gathered up the fish that they had caught as they knew it was time to go soon. Sevrin, Kangee, Mauja, Mercury and Kiera all decided it was time to head home. Kiera and Mercury knew they would be back for other rounds of fish attempts. As they had gotten quite a few this time. There were plenty of other fish in the lake and they would be caught soon enough. For now, it was time to go home.
