How to draw a 3D pen sculpture

I've been asked a couple of times how I do certain aspects of my models, so whilst I was recently making a model of umunschaas 's OC, Vremji I took the opportunity to take some photos of the process.

I've watched quite a few "how to" guides for making 3D pen models and seen several different techniques being applied; I don't use any of them. This is the way I do it. Is it the best way? No! Is it the only way? Definitely not. Then what is the best way? The best way is the way that works for you!

They say that a picture is worth a thousand words, so I'll leave the photos to do the talking. I hope this gives those who are interested an insight into what goes in to making a 3D pen drawn dragon.
