My Wings of Fire Oasis Guardian male Sandwing OC

The origins of the Oasis Guardians

During the first Sandwing war of succession, the seldom documented one that occurred before the time of Jerboa and Darkstalker, both sides quickly realised the strategic importance of the waterholes. As such, many of them saw fierce fighting as both sides competed for their control. If an army wanted to advance, the waterholes were primary targets to be captured and held. When things turned bad, and if there was no chance of a change of fortune, an army would often attempt to poison them before they withdrew. As a result, the once numerous waterholes that had kept the Kingdom of Sand alive through the season of drought, slowly dwindled to the few that remain today. As their number dwindled, so did the vegetation that surrounded them, and as the plants died, so the land died.

Eventually the dragons saw sense. With the end of the war came the time of reconciliation. The new ruler, eager to rebuild the land and reunite the factions, established several bold and far reaching initiatives. One of them was the charter of the oasis'. This charter sought to prevent any further destruction of the now depleted waterholes. It established within dragon law the neutrality of the oasis'. Under it’s terms, any dragon, from any tribe or faction, was free to use the oasis' for fair and reasonable use; That is, the preserving of their lives. They would be designated as neutral ground. Fighting would no longer be permitted within their boundaries, with one exception; the Oasis' Guardians.

The Oasis Guardians was a special, politically neutral order hand picked from the dragon's finest warriors. Their task was simple; to protect and maintain the ground within the oasis' boundary, and for the greater good of the entire kingdom, they had free reign to do whatever was needed to whomever it needed to be done to. In other words, they were granted a license to kill. Though some thought this a little drastic, the truth was simple; If the waterholes died, the kingdom died. And so, for the greater good of the land, the Oasis' Guardians were born.
